I seem to remember trump saying it was a witch hunt and it turns out it was.

What does the article say and its even in the link
Report does not exonerate Trump of obsruction of justice?
Seems like the witch hunt is justified then does it not?

To be accurate, the attorney general appointed by Trump has received the Mueller report and produced a 4-page summary of a two-year investigation in which, in the AG's interpretation, Mueller exonerated Trump of collusion with Russia but did not exonerate him of obstruction of justice.
This is the sort of banana-republic bullshit that will set off a firestorm of investigations, subpoenas, records requests, hearings, etc.
Far from getting Trump out of trouble, this will intensify the public curiosity a hundredfold.
We still don't know, for example, why Trump has had several off-the-record meetings with Putin or what was discussed.
We still can't be certain that the AG based his conclusion on the shaky theory that sitting presidents can't be indicted.
There's still much to be learned, and for Trump, these problems are entirely self-inflicted. Had he been open and honest from the beginning, this might have all been over ages ago.
The simple fact that he has not cooperated with the investigation in any shape, form, or fashion, and has acted on many occasions to undermine the investigation, doesn't make him look innocent -- quite the contrary.

the mueller witch hunt was about collusion with russia, it exonerates trump and his campaign of that.phildidge wrote:The Devil, You Know wrote:https://news.sky.com/story/mueller-report-does-not-exonerate-trump-of-obstruction-of-justice-11674434

the attorney general has said he is not guilty of obstruction of justice.
Are you going to whine that the man is not independent because he was appointed by trump?

It's as if Mueller wrote a masterpiece, and Barr came a long and substituted a different ending. It's called a 'bait and switch'.
The public isn't going for it. Over 70% of the population are calling for release of the unredacted Mueller report.
Reminds me of the plot in Urban Cowboy. Two rodeo cowboys vie for the trophy in a bull riding contest. The good one wins, and the other goes and steals the trophy.
Wait for the real thing. The bad guy gets caught.

Apparently not. As 84% of the American public demands full disclosure, Trump is reversing course. Plus, the Mueller investigators themselves are stating that Barr is pulling off a lie. Trump's changing his mind as the truth nears.

POLITICO wrote:
In a series of tweets, Trump disparaged congressional Democrats for their efforts to obtain the full report; noted that one of them had opposed the public release of grand jury information from independent counsel Kenneth Starr’s report on Bill Clinton; and tweeted a Fox News clip of lawyer Alan Dershowitz emphasizing that the Justice Department could keep the entire Mueller report confidential.
Trump’s running scared.

The report can be released to Congress, as they have the clearance to receive top secret materials.

What do you mean? There is still the findings of the Oversight Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Intel Committee, and all of the open investigations by SDNY and the Eastern District of VA, the state investigations by the States of New York, Illinois and California. They have different questions into different matters or subjects. Their powers and functions are Constitutionally protected.
That's the way the US works.

The only conclusion that can be made is that this is what Mueller and his team were able to find.
If fair is fair, Democrats should keep investigating Trump for several more decades. Okay, he's not going to live that long, but that would match the treatment Hillary Clinton got from Republicans.
And of course, they never turned up anything.

So basically you have given yourself several escape routes to avoid ever having to admit trump did nothing wrong.
As far as you are concerned he is guilty of...................(insert preferred crime) and innocence proves nothing
Good to know

Accusations? No. All investigations begin with an accusation. That's pro forma.
Keep in mind that the Mueller probe went to issues much broader than Trump...and it has resulted in 37 indictments and 7 - 9 convictions so far. Several spin-off investigations in SUDY and Eastern District of VA, as well as several state investigations, not constrained by the Muller mandate, have also resulted.
All in all, it's been one of the most successful efforts in history.

yeah if you throw a wide enough net you will catch a variety of fish
considering the fact that the investigation was about trump colluding with russia and the result was no collusion and has exonerated trump on all counts, i would agree and say its one of the most successful efforts in history
when trumps sends his own meuller attack dog after clinton im not so sure the result will be her looking at re-election, i think a similar investigation into her activities will result in her getting the needle - i cant wait

We don't know the result. AG Barr has yet to release the Mueller findings.
The Mueller investigation was of limited scope. Many more investigations have a much broader scope.

You're the one who falls for the bait and switch. I've always said, keep your eye upon the doughnut, and not upon the hole.
You were promised the Mueller report, yet they gave you (and you accepted) only the report of AG William Barr, a political hack. It's like a blind man giving someone a ten pound note, and they give him change for a five.
The whole idea of a special counsel was to remove politics from the system; what good is it when, after two years of investigation, they reintroduce a political stooge to withhold the findings, and switch his own opinion?
