Newborn baby dies from SYPHILIS in Britain 'for the first time in decades' as cases rise by 20% in a year
At least one baby died of syphilis in the UK last year as experts warn transmission during pregnancy is becoming more common.
The sexually transmitted infection (STI) is killing babies in Britain for the 'first time in decades', with cases among adults reportedly at their highest levels since the 1940s.
More pregnant women are going to hospital with the illness, which can pass through the placenta, with the number of times it was passed on 'in the double figures'.
The British Association of Sexual Health and HIV said babies catching the infection has 'dire outcomes'.

Time to roll out numerous ads encouraging people to wear condoms....plus step up sex education in school.
People were scared rigid when AIDS was rampant. it was going to be the death of us all, people started protecting themselves more....maybe scare tactics should be used to try to prevent the latest sudden rise in STD's.
More older people than ever are being infected, possibly because they are middle aged or older and single (or married and cheating) the fear of pregnancy has passed, so they get irresponsible with their sexual health.
This promiscuous society we live in certainly has it's drawbacks.
