Australia set to Block internet via the secret TPP thanks to Tony Abbot
Abbott's government has confirmed they're getting ready to crack down on internet freedom to comply with the TPP -- including a "three strikes" provision that forces ISPs to monitor and police our activity online.
Tony Abbott's trade minister is about to sign a secret, global pact to allow corporations to sue the Australian government for billions -- just for passing laws to protect our health or the environment. The secret meeting in Singapore is happening this week. Tony Abbott wants us to believe the 12-country Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is all about getting a better deal for ordinary Australians. But the truth is that it could end up being one of the biggest corporate power grabs in a generation. Abbott and his cronies are refusing to make the deal public (although corporate lobbyists seem to be getting the inside track) -- making it hard to know just what's in the TPP....

THERE'S already a couple of threads up on this 'TPP' treaty topic on here !!!

AS for the government attempting to block the Internet ~ don't you believe it..
That's a furphy that politicians on both sides have been bringing up for the past decade or more.
Simply proving that both the pollies and the morons writing-up these stories in the press (in this case it's Uncle Rupert's News Corp., again..) know absolutely nothing about the internet..
THEY simply can't "block" the internet in reality, in the ways that the governments and media keeps on suggesting..
WITH regard to "SumOfUs" (sumofus.org) ~ it pays to keep in mind that this organisation actually acts as a "clearing house" and noticeboard for various activist and community groups, rather than a single activist group in it's own right ~ so you also have to take note of who is presenting the individual stories. There is often a wide range in the quality and veracity of petitions and reports on groups such as SumOfUs, Care2Causes (one of the slackest in their moderating..), Change.org, and GetUp! (my favourite out of all of the activists 'clearing boards'..) ~ groups that I've been subscribing to for some years now..
The Chinese manage well enough I do worry about any government taking control. I accept your point that it is relatively easy forsomeone with know how to get around barriers but many don't have that know how.

Actaully they are
it will mean if you spend too long on pirate bay your ISP will be forced to send you a warning and if you recieve 3 warning they cut your connection. Additonally Known proxies used for pirating will also be blacklisted.
This is a TRUE attack on feedom as the law will allow them to black list any site and deny people internat access.
BUT as the Convict Nation we must persist with theft in the face on injustice... really it just mean we will have to hack innocent inviduals computers overseas and open up their connection as a proxy.

@bee
on large scale you are correct but I believe this is part of a divide and conquer tactic, they pick off people one by one, before you know it the couple of thousand that would be likely to bypass the system and create an easy to use 'hack' for others to use, are banned from owning a computer.
Tony is just trying to stop all forms of Freedom that may limit the excessive levels of Greed Rupert can indulge in. Like Tonys Motto "Rights should be linked to the size of ones bank account"
