The Wrong Messiah
He came from the wrong social class, the wrong place and the wrong profession. He ate with the wrong people, championed the wrong causes and attracted the wrong kind of supporters.

Nice choice. Reading a page turner at the moment, Jonathon Kellerman - Guilt, an early Alex Delaware that I missed, but got Pagan Paths: A Guide to Wicca, Druidry, Asatru Shamanism and Other Pagan Practices arriving tomorrow.

Re: What are you reading?
I'm reading "The Wind Through the Keyhole" by Stephen King, it's his latest Dark Tower novel and it's set in the middle of the series, which is one of my favorites. I may have to go back and re-read the other seven when I'm done, I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed them.
I may also check out something else by Mira Grant -- she wrote the NewsFlesh series of zombie-apocalypse novels that are very good, but I'm done with them all (even the novellas, save for one set in Australia I haven't gotten to yet).

The Dark Tower books are so damn good- I absolutely adored Eddie Dean, though Jake was my favourite character, SPOILER I cried every time he died SPOILER
Haven't got round to TWTTK yet but I intend to when I get a lot of free time later this year :D

It's a fast, fast read -- I'm tearing through it quicker than I do most of my guilty-pleasure Star Wars Expanded Universe novels

You know what was a damn-enjoyable YA novel? was "Nickel Plated" by Aric Davis. I got it for like $2 in e-book format and thought it was a lot of fun.
You read e-books, Jaded, or are you a dead-trees type of gal?
Re: What are you reading?
Dead trees for me. And I love old books. There is nothing like the smell of an old bookshop. Harder and harder to find these days.

I still read Agatha Christie now, my grandmother loved her books and she got me interested in crime fiction.

I think they incorporate some of the game's main characters and make up others. The weird thing is, I haven't played the game, but I've read all those books -- for me, Star Wars is like pizza in that it can be pretty bad and I still basically enjoy it
I am one of the few people I know of who likes all six of the movies (yes, even Phantom Menace) -- and thinks they were all dumb.
Re: What are you reading?
Dont knock the video game books until you have read them, I've Not read the Starwars ones
But the World of Warcraft Trilogy by Richard a Knaak is 100 times better than Tolkien
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warcraft:_War_of_the_Ancients_Trilogy
Literally the entire Lord of Rings trilogy occurs in half of one of the Novels.
And Star Crafts Liberties Crusade
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/287133.Liberty_s_Crusade
is also brilliant (think you would really like it Ben as the main character’s a journalist)
Currently Reading Bernard Cornwell's Sharpes series up to Sharpes Havoc and just got the next 6 for my birthday :D

I have to agree with you I loved them all! Terrible disappointment that both my kids dont like them. (probably because I made them watch them so much, they are the same with Tremors lol)

Not a dull moment; I'm thinking about getting a few more from him.
Finished 'Wind Through the Keyhole' last night; moved onto another series I enjoy, 'Sandman Slim' by Richard Kadrey. I'm on 'Aloha From Hell' now.

Virgil's Aeneid, in Latin. I may be in for a hot date tonight, and I want to "psych" myself up for it.
Though thinking about it, Homer's Viagra might come (oh, well, please yourself!) in more, er, handy.

Re: What are you reading?
Has anyone tried Book Thief? How was it?
Also I found the singe worst recommendation for a book:
"This novel, about a teenager who hovers between life and death after a traffic accident that kills her parents and brother, will appeal to fans of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" even though it lacks the thrills and chills of that series." - USA Today
Not sure what's more disturbing that this is the cover quote or that someone thinks there are thrills and chills in "Twilight."

I just finished Nickle Plated. It was a good read. I'm still a bit thrown by the character's age though. He seems to talk and act more like a 14/15 year old than a 12 year old. At least I kept picturing him that way. The tech is a little odd to considering he has a pager. But the story is enjoyable and the character is tough and fun while still feeling like a kid. A very jaded kid but a kid. I liked it
