New male contraceptive GEL in progress and 'closer to reality' than pill, reveals expert
A male contraceptive gel is closer to reality than a pill, claims a top researcher. Professor Richard Anderson, who teaches Clinical Reproductive Science at the University of Edinburgh, told Express.co.uk: “The last big World Health Organisation (WHO) study used injections given every two months. There’s a new study starting in the US, which is using a gel application that you rub on every day. There may be oral, pill type, preparations in the future, but there’s still some further away from reality than those other preparations.”

Its obvious limitations are that it's only useful in longterm, steady relationships.
Unsuitable for the transient nature of many sexual relationships these days, esp. in younger people. Blatant promiscuity is actively encouraged by hookup sites like Tindr, & tv reality shows - barrier methods of contraception are a must, for those.
