On the other hand...
...don't mean to rain on your parade, but there's still lots to cheer about.
Has anyone thought about a recycling business, what with all that trash?

I don't think any of that crosses the average persons mind day to day, its only when something is shoved in their face that they have any thoughts on it then its quickly forgotten, most will only take any real notice when it actually impacts on their life.

Do you think a recycling effort would help? I mean, profit and a cleaner environment, it could work.

Definitely, isn''t there already companies starting clean up businesses and the bac, he also sold newtuffteria that breaks down plastic, there has to be a profit to be made.
I hate waste and litter, fly tipping is awful, people drive miles out of the way to unload unwanted items that could be recycled or if not taken to the local tip to be sorted , the tips are usually nearer and free.
We reused everything until it could no longer be useful, we had a drawer for string and brown wrapping paper and paper bags. Nothing was replaced until it was completely non repairable. Pots and pans used to be repaired, scissors and knives sharpened by a travelling trader he also sold new stuff.
the biggest problem is over population it has to be controlled if resources for humans and animals is to be preserved, the damage we've done already is enough to finish off many other species and most people aren't concerned at all, what's a few species gone or habitat lost as long as we get what we want.
