'Absurd' council BANS children under 11 years old from 100th anniversary Remembrance Day parade over health and safety fears
A council was today branded 'outrageous' for banning primary school children from a local Remembrance Day parade in November for health and safety reasons. Bridgend Town Council in South Wales has this year ruled that children under 11 - including the Girl Guides, Scouts and Cadets - will be turned away from the parade.
Youth leaders and locals claim the council said new safety rules were introduced due to 'health and safety and issues' that arose last year over 'inclement weather'.
A letter shared between Girl Guide leaders said: 'It has been explained to me that due to health and safety and issues that arose last year that only children of secondary school age from all volunteer organisations will be allowed to parade on the Sunday from now on.

Before long we'd all better get a doctor's paper saying we are fit enough to take part, at least those that are between 11 and 65.
One of my earliest memories are of walking with my parents to the next village for the service at the village memorial, our village was to small to have its own and the weather was often inclement but strangely I and others survived.

Well maybe if some parents weren't so quick to sue for every little thing maybe councils would be less nervous about having small kids around.
Gotta look at both sides of a story.

There is no other side. Just because some parents are idiots looking to sue, should not then mean all children then suffer the loss of not being able to attend events. No such view is made at countless other events
How about Royal weddings. I do not see such views to ban children, based on health and safety, do you?
