One teacher revealed she has noticed an increasing number of GCSE pupils that are unable to work out how much time they have left in exams when reading from an analogue clock

They should also make basic manual arithmetic (i.e. wihout calculators..), using both 12 hour and 24 hour clocks, and simple map and compass use, all part of a primary school curriculum --  getting the basics down pat, before moving onto using new technology...

Even if they never need those basic skills in later life..

It could help a lot of people think more rationally and systematically, working things out rather than simply going for an easier and lazier spoon-fed route.     Arrow

People from the 40's down have not been taught simple lessons that are second nature to over 40's.
I have worked with many people who needed gadgets (or pen and paper) to add, multiply, subtract and so on....simple sums that older people do naturally.

Never seen anything so stupid as this. That's how we all learned to tell the time. The kids must be stupid if they can't tell the time on a school clock
