UK, France and US join in military strikes on Syria that feel good
First topic message reminder :
Once again we are gong to bomb Syria in response to Assad's use of chemical weapons on his own people. Trump announces that it will be an open-ended commitment. A new war? To what end? Last year, in April, we proved that deterrence does not work. We bombed cornfields beside an airstrip, as a warning. No result. They did it again last Saturday, April 7th.
Clearly, deterrence doesn't work. The military realizes this. So, this can only be punitive...and Trump says it's "open-ended". Let's think about this: WE ARE GOING TO WAR, POSSIBLY FOR THE NEXT 15-YEARS, NO DOUBT COMMITTING ANOTHER $17-TRILLION, TO PUNISH BAD GUYS, WHO WON'T BE PUNISHED. Does that make sense? Russians warn of potential for retaliation; Syria positions its assets close to Russians.
No deterrence. No punishment. What can this be all about? Perhaps EGO's? Like masturbation...it just feels good!
BTW, it's clearly illegal. It's in clear violation of Art. I of the US Constitution. More impeachment material??

* The US fired more than 118 missiles in "precision strikes" on Syria on Friday night.
* Defense Secretary James Mattis said the number of weapons used was "a little over double" that of a 2017 air strike on Syria which involved 59 Tomahawk missiles.
* If Tomahawk missiles were used, the minimum weapons cost of the Friday strike would be $165 million.
The US fired more than 118 missiles on Syria on Friday in precision strikes that were fired in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack last weekend.
US Defense Secretary James Mattis confirmed that the US used more than twice as many missiles as it did in a 2017 strike on Syria's Sharyat Airbase on April 7, 2017. That attack used 59 Tomahawk missiles, and was ordered by Failing Cheeto-Faced Ferret-Wearing Shit Gibbon, who said the action was in response to a chemical attack three days earlier.
"We used a little over double the number of weapons this year than we used last year," Mattis said on Friday.
"We were very precise and proportionate, but at the same time it was a heavy strike," he said.
It's unclear yet what weapons were used. But if the Raytheon-produced Tomahawk missiles, which have an estimated cost of $1.4 million each, were used in Friday's strike, that puts the minimum weapons cost at $165.2 million.
Friday's strike was launched in retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack last Saturday which killed dozens of people, and injured scores more.
Shortly after the attack, Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed to a "strong, joint response" if it was found the attack believed to be made by Assad's regime used a chemical weapon. UK Prime Minister Theresa May reportedly also spoke with Trump this week.
France and the UK have joined the US military operation.

Think of how $165-million would have contributed to healthcare in this nation!!

There may have been the Israelis mixed in there too.

Less than 24 hours ago I was saying that we should probably get ready for some sort of retaliatory strike against Syria following their latest alleged chemical weapons attack. Last night some missiles did apparently strike that country in the vicinity of the city of Homs, killing at least 14 people. One revealing nugget of information coming out in the hours immediately following the strike is that the dead were probably all Iranians or members of groups supporting Iran in Syria. (Fox News)
Airstrikes on Monday reportedly killed 14 people, including Iranians, at a military airport near the city of Homs shortly after a suspected chemical attack that killed at least 40 people in a suburb of the capital city, Damascus, over the weekend.
Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, says most of the 14 killed were either Iranians or members of Iran-backed groups
It was not immediately clear which country launched the strikes. The report on SANA said the attack on the T4 military airbase “is likely to be an American aggression.”
That brings us to the $64,000 question: who launched the attack? The Syrians are blaming us, and to be fair, it wasn’t an implausible claim in the moments following the missile strikes. But the White House is saying we didn’t do it. And based on the description of the damage and casualties, it doesn’t really look like an American attack. If this was Trump launching his “immediate action” in response to Assad’s chemical weapons attack, I’d expect that we’d see a rain of cruise missiles hitting a site suspected of chemical weapons storage and some stealth bombers dropping massive bunker-busters. This was some sort of direct, air-to-surface conventional missile attack from the sounds of it.
So if it wasn’t us, who was it? Some are blaming Israel and it’s not really a crazy suggestion. (More from Fox)
Al-Manar TV station of Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which is fighting in Syria alongside the government forces, described the attack as an “Israeli aggression.”
The Observatory says it wasn’t immediately clear who was behind the attack…
Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, says most of the 14 killed were either Iranians or members of Iran-backed groups.
Why isn’t it unreasonable to think it might have been the Israelis? The Homs airbase was the same airfield that Israeli warplanes struck back in February. That attack was prompted by an Iranian drone crossing over into Israeli airspace. It’s a target that’s obviously within easy reach for Israel and there’s no love lost between them and Assad.
But if it was an Israeli attack, completely justified though it may be, we’re left with the questions of why now and how did the plan for this unfold so quickly? Was it in retaliation for the chemical weapons attack or was this perhaps something that Israel had already been planning anyway because of the friction with Iran. (Remember, as noted above, the attack took out Iranian forces, not the Syrians.) Still, Bibi Netanyahu must have realized that any attack last night would toss gasoline on the fire surrounding the recent chemical attacks.
But whether it was pre-planned or a rapid response, would Isreal strike without consulting Trump first? That sounds unlikely in the extreme. We’re their number one military partner and defender. Keep in mind that all the White House has said thus far is that it wasn’t an American attack. That doesn’t mean that we didn’t know about it. But if that’s the case and Israel was responsible, somebody is going to have to fess up pretty quickly and it will become obvious that we were in the loop. Why not just announce it straight away and take credit for hitting the tyrant?
Having Russia, Turkey and Iran involved in the mix makes all of this horribly complicated. At this point, the only way to blunt any fallout from last night’s attack would probably be to launch one of our own. Buckle up, kids. This is turning into an epic crapstorm at a rapid pace.

I knew that when I wrote that post. There was a bit of mirth in my posting the point. Sometimes you want to go to the other wall, especially if the point is relatively neutral and it conforms to what others (including you) are saying.

No cancer of my prostrate rules my life at the moment and radiotherapy has not worked
Surgery is the next option
I do not drink Gelico, I just have to deal with this in my life. As well as my 26 year old Niece who has Luekemia and is under going Chemo. With on top of that my best friends daughter, who is 19 has a heart and lung disease called primary pulmonary hypertension. Basically a death sentence and she is on borrrowed time, unless she has a heart and lung transplant.
Now I have told you why at times I get angry and it has nothing to do with drink, because believe me, there is nothing more than what I would love to do right now, is have a drink, but I am disciplined and dont

I am sorry you are going through a bad time
The problem is Gelico, you do not even try to use the very same skeptism you have to things you buy into. It shows what is faulty with your beliefs.

I hope you can get your problems resolved, but as you continue to buy into white supremacist conspiracy sites, then you will always remain an immature gullible idiot.

I listened to the show from about 10.30 to 12.00... and there were many interesting points raised...
One of the callers was a field marshal and a Lord... can't remember his name... but he was very doubtful of Syrian govt forces being responsible...
Lord West just on BBC news saying he doubts very much that Syria govt did any chemical attack last weekend... Also saying that the terrorist video is not credible...

Another one doubting countless evidence from the left
Stunning that Tommy keeps using lefties as his case.
Lets see what the OPCW comes up with shall we?

Re: UK, France and US join in military strikes on Syria that feel good
Russia said a visit by chemical weapons inspectors to the site of a suspected gas attack in Syria's Douma today had been delayed as a result of Western air strikes. The British delegation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Russia and Syria had not yet allowed access.
But Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin's spokesman, said: 'We consider such accusations against Russia to be groundless,' adding that Moscow was in favour of 'an impartial investigation'.
The British delegation said in a statement posted on Twitter: 'Unfettered access [is] essential. Russia and Syria must cooperate.'
Britain's ambassador to the OPCW also said Russian assertions about why a team of inspectors had so far been unable to reach Douma were incorrect.
Russian officials have said that the inspectors were unable to reach Douma because they had not been cleared by the United Nations and because of US-led strikes carried out on targets in Syria on Saturday prevented them.
But Ambassador Peter Wilson said at a news conference in The Hague that the United Nations had cleared the inspectors to go, and they had been unable to reach Douma because Syria and Russia had been unable to guarantee their safety.
Earlier, Russia vowed not to interfere in the work of a fact-finding mission sent to Syria by OPWC.

Clearly stalling, so they can cover up the evidence

They want to go into a terrorist controlled zone... to try to verify the terrorists claim in the video that the terrorists produced... so why don't they just go there under the protection of the terrorists there, who must be happy for them to come and see the 'evidence'...!?

The area is under Syrian and Russian control.
As not long after the attack, the rebels negotiated with Russia to leave and withddraw.
That is how effected the use of chemical weapons are by Assad and why he used them
They have just shown their hand here by delaying the OPCW
And you need more evidence, even after the French provided evidence
wow
