Cop Slaps Cuffs On Firefighter At Crash Site
A firefighter is detained after refusing to move his fire engine immediately when asked to by a police officer.

A firefighter responding to a crash in Southern California was handcuffed and briefly held after he failed to move his vehicle immediately when police asked him to.

KFMB-TV video shows the firefighter being put in restraints and led away by a California Highway Patrol officer.

He was held briefly in a patrol car but not arrested.

The unnamed firefighter, donning full gear, can be heard talking to news crews as he is being handcuffed.

U-T San Diego said crews were helping victims after a car overturned on Tuesday night on Interstate 805.

One person was taken to hospital.

Chula Vista Fire Chief Dave Hanneman said a fire engine was parked behind an ambulance for safety reasons when a CHP officer demanded it be moved out of traffic lanes.

The firefighter said he would check with his captain but was told to move it immediately or face arrest.

CHP spokesman Jake Sanchez did not comment on the arrest immediately.

Officials from the fire department and CHP have met to discuss the incident.

In any altercation between Firey and Police, Shoot the copper, no need to ask questions.

One wages war on fellow citizens for politicians,

the other wages war one of the most dangerous forces of nature to keep the community safe.

What is the cop doing in this circumstance? He is being a menace and danger to society.

Could not agree with you more, friggin ridiculous.

I doubt a cop would try it here, Fires are a huge threat and firefighters national heros.

Could have ended very badly for the copper if there was enough public around.

I just don't understand why he did it.   It is common practice for fire engines to park behind ambulances at crash scenes to shield them while they work on the injured.   Surely a policeman should have know that.

  "A policemen", i.e. an ordinary cop as opposed to the 'site commander', doesn't usually have the jurisdiction to act as that officer did in that case ~ that's what protocols and "chains of command" are for...

IF that fire engine was already parked there, it would have had priority ~ IF it came afterwards, that officer could have asked nicely !

MAKES you wonder whether that particular cop had some 'beef' against that firie ? OR maybe against other services in general, (maybe some firie once dated his sister ?).


UNFORTUNATELY, the police everywhere always have that unsavoury bad reputation of "looking after their own" !  ::resmahauth::  So it's highly unlikely that the officer will be reprimanded at all in this case..  


:-:bravo:-:  HOW MANY people here are aware that the "first responder" to an accident site "owns" that situation UNTIL a "superior" personage such as an ambo', firie, cop, nurse or doctor declares something like "I'm [such-and-such] and this is now my accident site, I'm in charge here !"  

SOMETHING to keep in mind if any future legal arguments crop up..

(MANY doctors won't even bother to step forward in emergencies anyway, unless they're really needed ~ as they are often more used to well-equipped operating theatres and consulting rooms; and a trained first-aider or nurse may already have things 'under control..').    ::rfth::
