Doctor at one of the country’s largest A&E units reveals he has been forced to turn ambulances away because he has even run out of corridor space for sick patients who are waiting 12 HOURS to be seen

A consultant at one of the country's largest A&E units has revealed patients are being stacked in ambulances as there are no beds and the corridors are too full.

Richard Fawcett works in Stoke-on-Trent, an area where hundreds of beds that could be used to help have been closed down by the NHS.

In a desperate tweet he revealed that patients at the University of North Staffordshire Hospital were waiting 12 hours to see a doctor.

He said the hospital , which has one of the largest A&E departments in England, was now having to resort to stacking patients in ambulances while they waited to be seen as there was nowhere else to put them.

The hospital is part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust which has revealed that ambulances are being diverted from the A&E at its other hospital the County in Stafford because staff cannot cope with the volume of patients.

Local NHS campaigners said beds that could be used by A&E were being blocked because community hospital transfer beds had been axed.

Ian Syme said NHS bosses had been warned of the growing crisis.

The NHS is facing a new beds crisis- far worse than last year - according to new data that shows many were 100 per cent full for long periods of last month.

One expert , who leads the country's A&E doctors, said that if last winter had been the worst for 15 years this winter was far worse.

Vital, time-critical operations are also being delayed for long periods due to the chronic beds shortage gripping the NHS.

Some hospitals have barely had a single free bed since mid-November, recording night after night of being '100 per cent' full.

This story is illustrative in that it points up what conservatives do to kill people-serving programs brought on by the left.

They starve the program of resources, then tell us that such programs don't work. True...and you can't breath with a Nazi boot on your neck.
