Do you still send Christmas cards?
Lots of people don't bother nowadays....(miserable gits)
I do, though not as many....just counted.. I gave 8 to different neighbours, posted about 15, and I also buy about 8 special cards for special friends and close family members.
Total less than 30 nowadays....will probably get around the same back.

I have cut back severely on my list, one of the reasons being that I seem to be forever reducing it throughout the year because so many of the original recipients have dropped off the perch. Sad, but inevitable, I suppose.

Re: Do you still send Christmas cards?
I just posted this elsewhere:
Now don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, I really do. Seeing family and watching my children unwrap presents and all the jolly goodness that Xmas brings....but!
Here comes the moan.....
I fecking hate Christmas cards!!! I bin them. I don't put them up or hang them on string, I just recycle them.
Now all my new neighbours are sending them to me to be all nice and neighbourly and I'm thinking "Fuck! Now I've got to hunt down a scrappy old card with a tatty envelope from last year's scrappy tatty box and write them one out!"
Is it rude if I seal up my letterbox?

Looking at your Christmas card lists with peoples names crossed out after they die is quite sobering.
I hate crossing people off, but my memory is so bad I have to else I might include their name next time I send the wife/husband a card.

Remind me not to send you a card this year....
I always hang my cards up, they add to the Christmas decorations...

Well, you can either have a card without an envelope or an envelope without a card.
I only have scraps, I'm afraid.

Ill settle for a pic on here then.
I used to hand make cards for certain people....if they kept them (some people framed them) I would be very happy ....if I knew they went in the bin after Christmas they got a bought card from then on.
It took me ages to make one, they were too nice to throw away.

Re: Do you still send Christmas cards?
Haven’t for a few years. Everyone I would send to anyway is on my social media. We now do a family picture in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve and I put that on FB etc...with love and best wishes from our family to yours.
Environmentally friendly and I use the money for tots for tots and holiday food box programs locally.
I still like receiving them but I don’t expect them and won’t be offended if people stop sending them. I put them up behind my nutcrackers on the mantelpiece.
But we still haven’t put up the tree or decorations yet. Ho Ho No.

Buy a box of cheap cards being cleared out during the sales this week, write a nice little homily in it, and do a circuit of your street on Friday, leaving everyone a 5 or 10p. card to brighten up their lives...

Still plenty of time to put decorations up Cass.
My sons birthday is on Dec 15th, from him being born that's the date we always put the tree and decorations up, and we have stuck to that.
I cant understand people who put everything up weeks before the actual day, then they drag everything down on Boxing day.....we put them up late(ish) and wait till 12th night to take everything down again.

I never send them. All you really do is fund the Xmas card companies.

No, I don't send cards. It just amounts to a lot of recycling or a lot of cards being binned.

A 'spousal unit'....have you been to the Gwyneth Paltrow school of marital turn of phrase?

I'm not sure where I got that phrase. I may have made it up.

Since then you have 'consciously uncoupled' though, so it doesn't really matter.

I think it started as a term for 'wife' in the SNL series, The Coneheads. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coneheads They were supoosed to be aliens, who invented technical terms for earth life.

Well at least you didn't turn her off coupling altogether with your very quaint turn of phrase.

Do you have any idea how unorganised I am at everything? I barely remember the basics of what I need to buy let alone cheap cards in a sale.
Nah, I'll just spread my Christmas cheer like snowflake confetti and my neighbourhood will be covered in the snowy whiteness of my smile.
