Re: Christmas concerts
Lovely song, vod. I love Christmas music. A group of us gather and go about the neighborhood caroling every year. Fun...and it adds to the festivities.
Then there is the San Francisco Gay Men's chorus, which gives a concert every year in a Hall just off Union Square. Beautiful...very professional.
I said it was a chorus, not Three Tenors! Um...sopranos are frequently late.

Re: Christmas concerts
I loved seeing my kids and grandchildren's Christmas play. Now they're all, apart from one, at Secondary School they don't do them anymore. The one at Primary School isn't doing it this year, what a shame.

Milady and myself were so, so lucky to be able to attend the John Rutter Christmas celebration in the Royal Albert Hall earlier this month, VOD, with the great man conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bach Choir and the King's Singers.
If you ever have an opportunity of going, I can assure you that it is absolutely fantastic. Well worth the cost.

Re: Christmas concerts
Is there anything better than watching your kids or grandkids performing in the school play or concert?
Even if they have no lines and just stand awkwardly with a tea towel on their head, or they sing out of tune, or sing the wrong words, its enough to bring a lump of pride in many a parents throat.

Agree I am very emotional when I hear my little grandson sing and in his school plays - I go to all of them and I do have tears in my eyes there is nothing like it I agree.
Quill that sounds lovely I don't think its Christmas without hearing street choirs
Magica yes when they get to secondary school its not the same but I loved supporting my kids in all of them and now my grandson .
Me and HF are regulars at our eldest son's gigs he's lead singer and bass - I always have a lump in my throat I'm so proud of him and both my boys - youngest is at uni training to be a vet that makes us very proud too .
Fred I would definitely love to go to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall there is nothing quite like a full orchestra wow that must have been awesome .
Thanks for sharing everyone

I love threads like this VOD, they bring back lovely happy memories when our kids and grandkids have passed that stage.

I too have tears VOD and Syl, when I've watched mine and the grandchildren. Their low hand waves (not to be seen by their teacher) lol, smiles and singing straight backed makes me smile with tears as well.
I love Christmas, and love seeing my grandchildren's faces when they unwrap their favourite gift they asked for. Only my youngest granddaughter believes in Father Christmas, so the magic is something I can still share with her, oh I can't wait ha.

Re: Christmas concerts
The last Christmas concert we went to was funny.
It was for my grandsons younger brother, we didn't know which entrance to use as we didn't know the school, when we eventually found the way in the concert had started.
In the corridor all the lights were off, the headmistress came out and told us to go in the hall quietly as the nativity had started. Before we could OH dropped his glasses in the dark, he was grappling around on the floor between the heads legs, she was shushing us and making more noise than anyone. He eventually found his glasses, so she opened the hall door and we could see....unfortunately one of the lenses had dropped out in the fall, so she shut the door again quick and we had to go through the whole process again.
Very embarrassing, but happily Grandson had not uttered his one line yet...so we saw him.

Aww it is magical and I only have one grandchild but he's the light of my life I'm very blessed because I have to son's and usually son's are not as close to their mums as daughters - but mine are very close and I have a wonderful close relationship with them and my grandson -brings me so much joy I adore him he's very funny and clever .
I often try to remember how it felt back when i found out that Father Christmas wasn't real I can't remember .
A huge a sleigh and santa playing 'o holy night' was down my son's street Wednesday night and we were to see it and my grandson was so excited and got to sit on the sleigh and talk to santa - such a lovely experience .
I think its wonderful that people do this kind of thing to bring joy to us and raise money for charity .

It is Magical Vod.
I have one grandson too, he has a half brother and he is also like a grandson to us...we have always been nana and granddad to him, probably more than his biological grandparents.
When they were younger Christmas was so lovely....now they are older its still nice but in a different way obviously.
The Santa and sleigh used to be a highlight coming up the street, hearing the Christmas songs blaring out...we always used to wait for it then go out and watch it.

Re: Christmas concerts
Well son and daughter in law went to see my little grandson in his concert 'The very hopeless camel' and he wouldn't do it - he took his costume off and walked off stage said he looked stupid .
I went to see it yesterday and he did actually do it the whole thing although he was lying on the floor a lot of the time and messing around lol .
There is always one child that puts their heart and soul into it and he was louder than the rest of the kids but still very cute .
So it was very emotional to watch even though my grandson wanted to lie down most of the time

Indeed he did - but when it came to the last song he stood up and sang it out loud -probably thought 'thank God this is nearly over '

Re: Christmas concerts
My 14year old granddaughter school did a show in their church near her school. Her friends played the instruments, she plays guitar, but they wanted her to sing, so she gave a solo performance and got a standing ovation after.
I didn't go but saw the video, I was so proud. My daughter said she smiled at her then sang.
I'm more proud because she'd lost her confidence, as teens do, this made her feel good again.
