Trump is a 'slut shamer': Democratic women step up calls for president to quit after he said Kirsten Gillibrand would 'do anything' as she 'begged' for donations
Sen. Elizabeth Warren accused Fake President Trump of attempting to 'slut-shame' Kirsten Gillibrand Tuesday after he assailed the New York Democratic senator as a 'lightweight' and said she 'would do anything' for donations when she came to his office.
'Are you really trying to bully, intimidate and slut-shame @SenGillibrand? Do you know who you're picking a fight with? Good luck with that, @realDonaldTrump. Nevertheless, #shepersisted,' Warren tweeted.
Gillibrand likewise said that Trump employed a 'sexist smear' against her and belittled him for the 'unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office.'
The strike on Trump by the female senators came after the president said on Twitter that there's nothing to the accusations that he sexually harassed and abused 16 women in response to calls for a congressional probe from several of his accusers.
Trump said in a tweet that the women were peddling 'fabricated stories' and 'false accusations' and he did not know or had not met them.
The White House also denied that the president had ever inappropriately touched the women who came forward during the election but reemerged on Monday to demand action.
At least four other Democratic lawmakers have demanded that Trump resign and joined the women in pushing for a Capitol Hill investigation other than Gillibrand.
Yet the president today singled out the New York lawmaker who's married with children for humiliation.
Trump dubbed the New York lawmaker who's expected to challenge him in 2020 a 'lightweight' and someone 'who would come to my office 'begging' for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them).'
This was an hour after he went off on Democrats at-large in a tweet that targeted his accusers.
A trio of them had reemerged on Monday morning to hound him for sexually harassing them during Megyn Kelly's NBC program.
Samantha Holvey, Jessica Leeds and Rachel Crooks had previously made allegations against Trump and appeared on 'Today' to demand justice.
They demanded a congressional investigation and Trump's resignation at a news conference later along with a fourth woman, Lisa Boyne, who called in.
On Tuesday morning, a fifth woman, Mindy McGillivray, reentered the fray, also appearing with Kelly on Today. She, too, said there should be a probe of Trump.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House spokeswoman, had batted down the allegations against Trump as old news on Monday and said the president has addressed them.
'This took place long before he was elected to be president,' Sanders said. 'And the people of this country, at a decisive election, supported President Trump, and we feel like these allegations have been answered through that process.'
As she was questioned about the complaints from a total of 16 women, Sanders claimed that eyewitness accounts of the incidents the White House says never happened would exonerate the president. She gave CNN the names of two later.
And I can say [is] that the President has directly responded and said that these allegations are false, and that's what I'm doing in relaying that information to you,' Sanders said Monday from the podium.
Gillibrand rushed to their defense in an appearance on CNN in which she said their claims were 'credible' and their stories are 'heartbreaking.'
'President Trump has committed assault, according to these women, and those are very credible allegations of misconduct and criminal activity, and he should be fully investigated and he should resign,' Gillibrand told CNN.
Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden of Oregon, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Mazie Hirono of Hawaii and Cory Booker of New Jersey have also said that Trump should resign over the allegations.
'These women are right,' Wyden tweeted. 'If @realDonaldTrump won't resign, Congress must investigate allegations by many, many women that he sexually assaulted and harassed them. No one is above the law.'
Trump responded Tuesday morning in two tweets, the first of which directly dealt with the proposition that a congressional investigation is needed.
'Despite thousands of hours wasted and many millions of dollars spent, the Democrats have been unable to show any collusion with Russia - so now they are moving on to the false accusations and fabricated stories of women who I don't know and/or have never met. FAKE NEWS!' he said.

A Republican Congress doesn't care about moves on women. Hell, women don't care.
There's a great deal of validity to the WH argument: people who knew all about the allegations, still voted for Trump. There might be a lot of social clucking about it, but it isn't political clucking.
