Mustard and ketchup
What a really great combination! Great on veggie sausages in a brioche bun.
I'm a bit of a condiment girl and love sauces and pickles in a sandwich. Ketchup is a great invention - I will want to shake Mr Ketchup's hand one day - and ketchup goes great on fried eggs. Ben had a jalepeno ketchup that I had consistently every morning on eggs - must find it here.
What's your condiment of choice?
Oh, and I have to give mayonnaise a mention. Great with chips. Oh yeah.

Brown sauce is okay, I have to be in the mood. I love dill pickles though! Oh man, I eat them straight out of the jar, usually after I've eaten chocolate for some odd reason.

Mayo or Branston pickle, but my favourite is simple olive oil and balsamic...love it on salads.

Balsamic and olive oil on a salad is wonderful Syl. I'm with you there. Also like a garlic dressing too.
And coleslaw is great with a really hot chilli.

Apple sauce is lovely too....on any roast dinner, doesn't have to be pork.
And the bought stuff in jars is always nicer (and easier) than home made.

Nope. I just eat some pretty odd things sometimes. I think I'm an emotional eater tbh.
Stress makes me exist on weird things like the ones I just mentioned. When I'm calm I can eat a lot but only in small amounts at a time. I have quite a small frame.

Yeah, I've got to be in the mood for brown sauce. I love chutneys and I make my own. I tend to steer clear of ketchups because of the high sugar content, and it's too easy to use it at every meal. I like mango chutney with a curry, and piccalilli with cheese, and Delia Smith's pickled pears!

Yes I do! You know I actually prefer meals where you can pick at small amounts of different things.
We ate at a really nice vegan restaurant in Texas. Even if you love meat, this food was divine, Syl. It was so clean and fresh-tasting.

It sounds nice. I was veggie for years (not now because I love fish and chicken) but salads and fruit make up a big part of my diet, so a vegan restaurant sounds great, I have never been to one.

Neither had I. There are a few in London I've just not made it there yet. I'm weird with fruit. I eat it for days on end then I don't touch it for ages. Berries are my favourite.

Worse.
We went picking them, big juicy ripe ones, and couldn't resist eating loads. When I got home I put the remainder in water to wash....hundreds of live maggots appeared from out of them.
I couldn't eat anything for days I felt so sick....it was a good way to lose those extra pounds quickly though if anyone needs to.

Re: Mustard and ketchup
Trader Joe's makes a mayo with wasabi in it. Use in any way you use mayo, and it spices things up.
I suppose you could just get wasabi powder and mix it yourself, but I don't know the proportions.
Jalapeno is really popular these days. Safeway has it mixed with relish for a condiment, and it also comes mixed with a sweet/hot mustard. But my fave is jalapeno with cream cheese on a toasted multi-seed bagel. Mmmmmm...

Re: Mustard and ketchup
In Texas you can choose between mayo and mustard on your burger.
The correct choice is, of course, mustard. If you choose mayonnaise, we're going to know you ain't from 'round here.
But as for me, Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce on the top of my burger and pickled jalapeno slices beneath. Only way to go. And white sharp cheddar cheese of course.
And the only acceptable condiment for my grill fries is jalapeno ketchup. Seriously, don't come at me with any filthy bullshit, it's jalapeno ketchup or don't even bother.

I like a bit of mayonnaise, and I quite like tartare sauce. Chutney can be quite nice in a cheese sandwich, and soy sauce is good in a stir fry. I don't like tomato ketchup - never did as a kid. I never use barbecue sauces, mustard, brown sauce, or anything spicy.

Abject nonsense, Raggs -- no disrespect intended. You can ask around -- I eat some of the hottest stuff on Earth, yet my senses have remained keen enough to detect leaking chemical toxins that endangered my neighborhood, when nobody else smelled a thing (whereas I could literally taste the stuff) :D

It was this stuff coming out of an electrical transformer! Some of it dripped onto my actual head! (I showered immediately after, don't worry).
Here's the thing about sauce, though -- some recipes were invented by poor people who couldn't afford the best cuts of meat, etc. The sauces they used were intended to make it more palatable. And they were really clever in finding a way to make the tough meat they could afford, tasty. I won't judge anybody for their preferences, mind you, but I always say keep an open mind because you might find something amazing, life is short, and try everything once
