Juliane Koepcke, 17, was sucked out of an airplane after it was struck by lightning. She fell 2 miles to the ground still strapped to her chair and lived. However, she had to endure a 9-day walk through the Amazon jungle before being rescued by loggers. She was the sole survivor of 93 passengers and crew in the December 24, 1971, crash of LANSA Flight 508.

So is the girl in the middle. You can see the metal stand behind her. And her eyes are painted on.

Yeah I get that too Syl.
Years ago they took pictures of people when they died as a keepsake. They do t look dead, so I suppose it made them feel better. No accounting for taste eh?

Its very macabre...on a par with having a pet animal stuffed.
Each to their own though.

The first Statue of Liberty given to the US by France was a Black woman that the US turned down so France replaced that one with the version currently in New York harbor. This Black Lady Liberty also made by France is found on the Island of St. Martin.

Those two women look like sisters.
It must be a bit traumatic dressing her , carting it into the woods, and posing with her cold dead body....horrible thought.

Monument to African Renaissance - Senegal BCCL--- At 160 feet, the statue towers over the Senegalese capital Dakar's skyline. Inspired by Soviet social realism, designed by Pierre Goudiaby and built at a cost of $27 million, it sits atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It's Africa's tallest statue!

I only remember her laying on a sofa singing 'I want an old fashioned man's I thought she was ancient but then I was only young then.

Re: What do you see
In 1933, a girl dressed all in blue came to Willoughby, Ohio on a Greyhound bus. She stayed the night in a boarding house before spending the next day greeting everyone with heartfelt warmth. At the end of the day, she saw the train to New York approach, dropped her cases, sprinted for the track, was hit by the train and died of her injuries. No one knew her name for 60 years, yet 3,000 people attended her funeral. And no one will ever know if it was an accident or suicide.

Frank Sinatra was a big activist in the civil rights movement, refusing to stay at hotels that didn't allow "Blacks". Even using his mafia ties to help get labor unions behind JFK because he knew they shared the same opinions on equal rights.

Every picture on here is great HT, what a thoughtful thread.
The man being given the kiss of life is very powerful, I wonder if he survived.
The pic of Charles Manson shows nothing but a happy baby....had he grown up to be a successful entertainer people would still have said 'the eyes and smile give some indication as to how he might turn out'.

Two people I know who looked at this thought it was a photo of two gay men kissing. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.

The picture was taken by the Allies. This is Auschwitz II-Birkenau in summer of 1944. On the left the smoke is clearly visible. It comes from burning pits next to crematory V, where Germans burned bodies of murdered Jews. (Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum Archives)

A couple of us agreed that he was being given the kiss if life Nicko.
I didn't know he had been electrocuted, but seeing what they were doing I guess you are correct.
