Why are you asking me Gelico??


I merely posted the article, of which I find the stance highly wrong to alter naturally produced levels.

Instead of shoving some manufactured substance up your nose, why not simply give or receive a cuddle if it has the same effect?

Surely people don't need to be given an artificial substance to make them feel kindness towards others nowadays.

Oxytocin is a naturally occurring hormone, released into the brain during pregnancy, during childbirth and during lactation (promoting the release of prolactin..).

It is one of the "female" hormones, along with oestogen, progesterone, prolactin --  it should be noted, however, that both genders produce both "female" and "male" hormones (e.g. testosterone, andosterone, hgh) --  it's only the relative quantitities that varies.

As well as inducing labour in women, small amounts produced by males controls the release of testosterone by the testes..

As well as making childbirth a little easier, and promoting lactation in nursing mothers, oxytocin also 'bonds' the mother and child, and makes the males feel more protective towards the wimmin folks and their offspring...

"Manufactured" oxytocin can be given to pregnant women to promote labour --  it is the hormone that is used by some doctors to "induce" labour, either during delayed or long childbirhs, or sometimes to avoid clashes with their mid-week golf games..    

And as mentioned in the article, smaller amounts released by both men and women during cuddling and sexual activity makes them feel fonder of/closer to one another.


It follows, therefore, that adding extra oxytocin into naturally anti-social and violence-prone individuals who have lower-than-normal levels, may indeed induce some of them to feel better towards their fellow human beings..

In Tommy's case, however, I reckon they should load the needle with a full-on 'shotgun' mixture of oxytocin, prolactin, oestrogen and progesterone  !!!  It certainly wouldn't hurt..

Actually, he was fired by a radio station for being a sleazy mysognist, and assaulting female guests, particularly after Taylor Swift complained...
