When a man took a picture up Gina Martin's skirt when she was enjoying herself at a festival, she was sure he could be punished. However, after being told he did nothing illegal, she has taken things into her own hands and started a campaign which has reverberated across the country - to make 'upskirting' a specific offence under the law.

'Upskirting' is the term for when people put cameras under unsuspecting women's skirts and take a picture of their crotch, usually just before the woman notices what has happened.

On the 8th July 2017, this happened to Ms Martin, who was at the British Summertime Festival.

I'm not sure how that's acceptable and why this man got away with that??!

I'd have stuck my hand up his shirt or his shorts and took photos of him. I swear, I'd have followed that pervert around for a good few hours and made his life hell.

Down here, the NSW government defined the relevent laws a few years ago, so that lascivious invasions of privacy such as "upskirting", and hidden cameras in bathrooms, changerooms and the likes, are specific crimes under the law;     (I'm not aware of any state over here that doesn't have similar laws..).

Sometimes, also, it isn't only one deviant offender --  there are also cases of several like-minded perv's posting online, competing to outdo one another..

There are some women down here who would have punched his lights out, if they caught him !

So a man can do this to an unsuspecting woman without any comeback as long as he does it in an open space, like a festival or a park, and doesn't show it to more than two people.

Whoever said the laws is an ass was spot on. Rolling Eyes

I'm going to sign her petition.
