Democrats scored two surprising electoral wins on Tuesday night by flipping statehouse seats in one of the more unlikely locations: Oklahoma. Michael Brooks-Jimenez, a local immigration attorney, was elected as a new state senator for District 44, an area that encompasses southwest Oklahoma City. And in Tulsa’s House District 75, Karen Gaddis, a retired school teacher, won a seat that had been in Republican clutches for over two decades.
The wins were owed, in part, to scandal that has beset the Republican Party in Oklahoma, where a number of state officials have been forced to resign because of sexual harassment claims and, in one instance, child prostitution allegations. Additionally, an ongoing budget crisis, which has led to four-day weeks at many Oklahoma schools, has spurred dissatisfaction with Republican leadership.

But the victories also underscore a growing backlash against the GOP that has elevated Democrats in various contests across the country.

Any victory in any election, represents a sort of backlash anyway.
In a democracy, power keeps changing hands in an alternating way ...
to reflect the latest backlash against the latest governing party.
Quill will be delighted!

True.  And it may be a harbinger of things to come.

But I'm looking to the House and Senate, and 2018.  With these revelations of collusion between Trump people and the Russians, I want to see the impeachment go through, and a conviction obtained. This is open treason.

If, on the other hand, Trump gets away with it, I'm gonna solicit to run as another country's candidate...imagine the French President of the US.  I love French Onion Soup.  The WH will be a different place, with Brioche, Canelés de Bordeaux, fromage blanc and Salmon Rillettes.

Perhaps a Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2009 to go with that. Razz
