Re: The Happy Thread
Just been over to visit my late wife's grave in our wood and watched four absolutely gorgeous fox cubs playing like puppies, rolling around, having mock fights and playing their own version of leapfrog.
By the time I had extracted my iphone from my pocket to grab a pic they realised that I was there and legged it.
Really lifted my spirits.

I'm stuck indoors with a five year old covered and smothered in chicken pox. Share my misery won't you?

A few years ago, when my late wife was a free range poultry producer whose stock frequently ended up as Mr and Mrs Fox's dinner, I would have shot 'em too.

I can do nothing but sit here and alleviate her itching.
I had chicken pox when I was younger and apparently the virus lies dormant and can turn to shingles at any time.

You are welcome to ignore me - but - a warm bath filled with porage oats is the treatment my wife's consultant ordered when she was 5 months pregnant and had shingles. Did a phenominal job. Took away the pain in minutes and reduced the redness and sores.

Re: The Happy Thread
The probability is you wont catch shingles.
This is from the NHS advice page.
"You can’t get shingles from someone with shingles or chickenpox.
However, you can get chickenpox from someone with shingles, if you haven’t had chickenpox before.
When people get chickenpox, the virus remains in the body. It can be reactivated later and cause shingles if someone’s immune system is lowered. This can be because of stress, certain conditions or treatments like chemotherapy."
So stop moaning...its a happy thread.

Thank you Andy. I don't ignore people when they're civil, it's not my way.
That's the second time today I've been told about oats working. I'll give it a go in the morning. She's asleep now at last.

Weirdly, my unborn daughter got 90% immunity by catching it whilst in the womb. She got chicken pox - 5 spots.

Wow. Lucky girl.
My daughter has so many that I cannot count them. She's got them in clusters all over her body. I really feel for her.

Yeah, we know you can't catch it. It's already in you if you've had chicken pox.

You don't catch shingles. You reactivate the chicken pox virus that's lying dormant.

I remember my mum putting camomile lotion on me when I was a kid and had chicken pox. She dabbed it on with a cotton ball and it was the middle of winter and we had no central heating and that lotion was fucking FREEZING!!!!!

Yes I've got some of that but also discovered a gel - ten bloody pound for a tube!!! It's easier to put on and works better in my opinion.

That was likely chicken pox, definitely not shingles...
You cannot "catch" shingles..
Shingles develops later on from the initial chickenpox, often decades later.
The odds of developing shingles shoots up in people in their 50s and 60s..
