The BBC and Corbyn.
First topic message reminder :
So why DID the BBC edit the multi news interview with Corbyn to deliberatly omit his utter condemnation of the bombing which was at the start of the interview.
Sky ITN and Chsnnel 4 showed the whole interview in full.
More evidence of Conservative bias in the BBC?
It was splattered over the news last night.

Andy isn't bitching about me over there though. Maybe that's because I didn't attack him for starting this thread.

No I just get bored when you and others slag off me, Victor and eddie all the time on that forum.
I mean why are you so bitter about all 3 of us?
Because we actually challenge your beliefs and views?
What does that say about you all over there.
Like I said, it was disgusting that you used the attack to make some pathetic political point here and it was based off a lie.
Seriously, some of you over there need to spend less time slagging off people here and actually engage in debate.
Just a thought mind

I barely think about forums when I'm not logged on them.
Imagine carrying around that much negaive emotion for a forum poster that you don't even know!

It's an odd thread. Scrat appears to be talking about this forum, but he's not quoting stuff from this forum.

If people need to feed their obsessions then let them. We all need to find our own inner happiness, don't we?

Well yes, but it's still odd how he's talking about this forum but he's quoting from another forum. Most bizarre.

Not surw why they would need to edit a statement in such a way.
The Sun or Mail I could understand.
Maybe they couldn't fit it all in at the time.
Anyway, in the edited version, it was very clear that he didn't sympathise with the terrorist. It doesn't change the issue about the IRA though - sorry.
News broadcasting is timed to the second, and the sheer pace of newsgathering and competition to be first on air means that recorded interviews such as that one will always be subjected to editing - some extensive and some involving less than 20 words - almost at the point of broadcast.
I didn't see the interview under discussion here, but I can well imagine that if the preceding clip overran by just a few seconds the production gallery team would have had to make up for it, and if the Corbyn interview still made sense and remained in context by omitting the first or last few sentences - by far the easiest places for a quick edit - the producer would have taken that option.
There simply isn't time to sit around thinking about devising ways of giving one party preference over another in timed news bulletins that contain a mix of pre-recorded and live material - particularly in the BBC which is required under the terms of its charter to be strictly non party political in its coverage.
Anyway, the general perception is that in its programme planning, the Beeb is most widely held to be more inclined to favour the Left, and this does actually tend to reveal itself in some of its current affairs, as opposed to news, programming. Even its erstwhile Director General admitted that fact.
Now, after this attempt to contribute to the thread with at least a background of some working knowledge and experience of broadcasting, I cheerfully await the predictable accusation from the usual suspect that my post is yet another (?) example of my far Right extremism!

According to Scrat you're only far Right; I'm a real Fascist!
Still, someone has to do the job - so I'm just off to don my jackboots, Sam Browne and black shirt and march through Biggleswade lustily singing the Horst Wessel Lied...
