Newspapers
Do most, if not all, newspapers deliberately lie about the political parties they oppose?
Should this be allowed?
My opinion is they do. They lie to serve the agenda of their owners, left centre or right wing.
And it should be prohibited.
The public have a RIGHT to to be delivered FACTS, not propaganda.

Lies?
Lies are generally taken to task by independent bodies like fullfact for example which see newspapers make retractions. Often in small print where nobody even notices them, but they do admit to where they have been wrong more often than not.
So some do lie for an agenda and knowingly, but will often find that the reporter does not run the paper itself and have those above them print a retraction.
Are papers biased?
Of course, but as there is media outlets biased towards both left and right. The media cannot be blamed for how or why people buy into something. The fault lies within the individual themselves. Its they who are swayed and thus easily susceptible to confirmation bias based on their own beliefs. Which is why nobody can ever be truly impartial. So if the media lies, it should be reasoned that they have and ridiculed. Then those who believed that lie, looking silly themselves for believing so.
We are not countries that are based on select propaganda information provided. We rightly have a free press and free speech.

Re: Newspapers
Huge difference between spinning your own political bias and skewed view on a subject.
A lot of papers do lie with stories, particularly poorly researched ones by freelance writers, that are demonstrably untrue.
Hillsborough springs to mind.
As does Ed Miliband's father.
Unacceptable.

Re: Newspapers
To further expand on my point and show why in my opinion this proves hypocrisy is in abundance. Is that people change their stances based on who they have a confirmation bias against.
Clearly this thread, being that Andy is a Labour supporter, feels Labour under Corbyn gets bad press. Now to me Corbyn and his minions are from the Far Left and like anything that is problematic. People have a natural aversion to those who would bring disaster to a nation.
Now for example UKIP has to have been the worst press possible over the years in the media. I don't recall ever hearing from the left how they thought this was bad or wrong. Or claim lies were being printed about them. UKIP was in the press because they were literally a one policy party with followers based on the right to the furthest extremes of right wing policies. The media will take on soft targets, to amplify their points. Those targets are of which people can relate to how they have an aversion to hateful bigotry.
Hence why the media goes after both Corbyn and UKIP as both being a natural disaster for the UK, both having a core following of those with extreme views, more than they have those with none extreme views. That is the telling part. That the extreme of society are attracted to the likes of UKIP and Momentum.
The point is why moan now Andy?
Did you moan when UKIP has been constantly hounded over its views and bigoted members? So why do you whine the same happens to Corbyn and his minions?

Did in each case the papers retract and issue an apology, thus proving my point?
In my case I think the Hillsborough inquiry was a sham, as many people were responsible for that disaster. What was disgusting is that this inquiry chose to exclude some of those guilty of causing this disaster.
The point is there is a free press and you clearly read the left leaning ones.
So do you ever challenge them, when they lie Andy, as they all have certainly done so?
Or does your point here only relate to right wing media sources?

Re: Newspapers
Do you know what is the problem with society today?
They live and strive on negativity in the main. Only a few strive with hope through being positive.
When are politicians going to learn that you will win far more people over. If you offer them a better future and not one based on fear. On that they know is workable. You give them hope. You don't do what Labour is doing under Corbyn, and offer a carrot on a stick that disintegrates the moment you bite into it.
People never take enough encouragement and positivity from those who do succeed against all odds. How many times do they have to explain their stories for people to learn and understand. Even when these same people admire them. Its no good pissing and moaning about something. If you never actually do anything about it. You only have yourself to blame then.
People need to stop looking to blame others for why so many things are wrong in the world. Its down to everyone to act in a way that is fair to everyone.
