How are you finding it ?

And Vod, I'm finding it relatively okay so far? I have a pretty photographic memory and I tend to make each sign, make sense to what the word is.
Where are you up to?

Not on a course learning from youtube , i have enquired about courses but never get a reply . I love sign language and it is something i have always wanted to learn.

Re: I passed my first exam!
Learning from youtube isn't ideal as some of the signing you cannot see it properly that's why i need a course .

Re: I passed my first exam!
Trouble with learning on YouTube is there are so many people showing you different signs for different things.
I've learned that sign language is a bit like a personal dialect where each tutor will show you a sign slightly differently. There are about three or four signs for Post Office, for example and you have to know them all in case the deaf person you're communicating with knows only one for "Post office" (though they're all pretty self-explanatory signs anyway).

Also, some signs have nothing to do with the word you're trying to sign! The sign for "girl" is an index finger down and off your face - which I had to make into a picture of it being blusher applied (feminine) so I was able to remember it.

Agree with that and not every word is signed either for example in a song .

Re: I passed my first exam!
You don't sign every word in a common sentence either.
For example;
"Where do you live?"
Becomes
"You live where?"
It's really like shortening each sentience with the question word, always going on the end.

Yes , there is a woman at church who signs and she teaches me - we sign the songs together . I find it so easy signing songs .

Thank you to everyone and Quill, we sign in English.
Sign language isn't universal and American, Australian and English signing is all different! Which I think is crazy. I do believe Americans sign using mainly one hand wheras we use two.

We British Land Rover freaks have our own special sign language which we direct exclusively at the drivers of American Jeeps. Very racist of us, I shamefully admit......

In my local Land Rover Club anyone even mentioning the word "Jeep" has to put a quid in the club swear box!
