TRUMP attempts to Dismiss lawsuit against him
Trump has dismissed allegations in a new lawsuit by prominent constitutional and ethics lawyers that he is violating the US Constitution by letting his hotels and other businesses accept payments from foreign governments.
Trump told reporters at the White House that the lawsuit by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington was “without merit”.
The non-profit contended that Trump is “submerged in conflicts of interest” from his ties to countries such as China, India and potentially Russia, potentially posing a “creeping, insidious threat” to the country.
Its lawsuit seeks to stop Trump from accepting any improper payments, saying a constitutional provision known as the “emoluments” clause bans them. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court in Manhattan on Monday.
It is part of a wave of expected litigation from liberal advocacy groups against Trump, a Republican who took office on Friday.
On January 11, Trump said he would retain ownership of his global business empire while president, but hand off day-to-day control to his oldest sons, Eric and Donald Jr.

Re: TRUMP attempts to Dismiss lawsuit against him
will only take one of these to stick and he is impeachable.
He definitely has conflicts of interest, Even letting his sons take over may not be legal.
All previous presidents with commercial interest have placed them in a Blind trust while holding the presidency... immediate family does not constitute a blind trust, he even suggested they would discuss things with him, which completely negates the Whole point around preventing conflict of interest

Re: TRUMP attempts to Dismiss lawsuit against him
Through acts like this, you can see how he believes he's now above the law.
May I just say, America has avoided proving that nobody's above the law far too often. I worry that the precedent, set (for example) by Obama of not prosecuting Bush, Cheney et al for war crimes will be codified.
At some point, we have to demonstrate the power of the constitution over a wayward government. Otherwise, we may as well not have one.

Re: TRUMP attempts to Dismiss lawsuit against him
it may happen yet.
neither side of the US political spectrum will be happy, and big business furious
the Dollar has spoken this evening, if you watch the stock market.
money pouring into the Chinese resource sector from all over Asia (this benefits Australia) based on the potential for a trade war between China and the USA
the trade dollars clearly feel China will win.
logically it will the USA has just thrown away it's trading block and instead suggests the same idiocy as the UK that for some reason They will be able to deal individually with nations that are all signing up to multi nation trade pacts.
Wishful thinking, I think we are watching the death of western power
Japan and Australia have both made offers toward China already to join the new TPP without the USA. Australia and Japan alone will probably be enough to convince Korea and New Zealand, and as 4 it will convince the others. Ironic the TPP started to contain China and instead Trump has handed it over as the instrument for Chinese Economic dominance.
the USA's allies have been blunt abandon the TPP and we will joins China's block
