More and more seem to be advertising..."If you are between 13 and 19 years old, come and join up" free dating sites for teens are on the increase....surely they are a magnet for perverts. Teen dating sites. 2190311264

Not if these sites are enabling adults to date children.

On second thoughts, perhaps the authorities are using these sites as baits. Teen dating sites. 2190311264

Well in a way they are enabling, they are enticing kids to join a site to date. I doubt they can vet everyone who joins up.

Your second thought would be brilliant if that were the case, I doubt it though.

It doesn't really matter where they are based, the internet makes everything local.
The most popular dating site for kids as young as 13 is a Canadian website, it has over 300.000 members from the UK, America, Australia and Canada.

No a definite no to children under 16. Many paedos will use these and make out they're younger. I wouldn't want my grandchildren on it.

Why go trawling round various sites when you can find young kids eager to get into conversations (and more) on one site that caters for them....these forums are a paedophiles dream.

Yes it would be good, problem is apparently more and more of these dating sites for young kids are opening...and sifting through the genuine from the perverts would be time consuming.
It should also be up to the sites to do their best to check, they don't though.
One dating site carried on letting a reported rapist advertise there....he raped again targeting another woman he met online.

That's awful. My girls check anything the kids do on phones, on line etc. You can have sites barred aswell, so I would do that too, I think my girls do.

It sickens me the way some parents have no idea what their kids are doing online.
Someone who was involved in child exploitation online put it this way...you would never allow your child to be alone at night with a group of complete strangers....but that's exactly what you are doing every time you allow them unsupervised access to a computer.

legally it does
every website sits on a server somewhere
it has to comply with those laws.
Our nations cannot pass a law that will effect it as it is out of our jurisdiction

the best you can do is a 'great firewall of china' style system.
and there is no way to ensure that system is then not used for less moral purposes like suppression of information etc

this is the proper way to deal with it

Parent need to have enough understanding of the technology to set up firewalls etc and most importantly Pay attention to what the kids are doing.
