Donald Trump claims that him being “really rich” is what makes him different from other candidates.
He explains that this frees him of the sort of outside influences that other politicians have.

But because he hides his taxes, there’s really no way for the public to know who is giving money to Trump, or why.
One thing that we do know is that Trump has received well over $1,000,000 from the illegal Dakota Access Pipeline corporation.
The proposed pipeline sets out to carry oil between fracking sites in North Dakota and Illinois running alongside the Standing Rock Sioux tribal lands in North Dakota – land protected by three separate Indian Treaties which are being ignored.
Trump has many connections to the corporation behind this illegal pipeline.
For starters, he has taken over $100,000 in campaign contributions directly from executives at Energy Transfer Partners – that much we know for sure.

But Trump also even has his own money invested in the illegal project, according to The Guardian.
Trump’s financial disclosure forms show the Republican nominee has between $500,000 and $1m invested in Energy Transfer Partners, with a further $500,000 to $1m holding in Phillips 66, which will have a 25% stake in the Dakota Access project once completed.

The information was disclosed in Trump’s May filing to the Federal Election Commission, which requires candidates to disclose their campaign finance information on a regular basis.
The 1,171 mile long pipeline illegally crosses land which was taken by the Army Corps of Engineers under the auspices of flood control, even though that land is protected by three Indian Treaties.
The illegal path of the pipeline crosses several sacred sites, as well as a river upstream of the Standing Rock Sioux tribal lands that Native American communities and activists are worried will be polluted by the literally hundreds of annual oil spills in the state.
Mark Sumner, writing for the Daily Kos, explains the following:
So the pipeline represents a direct threat to the quality of their water. The pipeline was originally slated to run near the state capitol at Bismark, but was relocated near the Sioux tribal lands after complaints.
Just last weekend, 141 protesters were arrested and held. Police at the site have been heavily militarized and even journalists have been arrested simply for attempting to interview people at the site.
Donald Trump has spoken out frequently on the idea that relaxing regulations over energy would generate more jobs, though multiple analyses have shown that our energy market is facing a glut of both oil and gas and market prices, not regulations, are what is causing the current declines in energy jobs. But now it seems that Trump’s call for easing restrictions on energy are more directly related to lining his own pocket.    http://countercurrentnews.com/2016/10/trump-quietly-taken-100k-illegal-dakota-access-pipeline-corporation-now-1000000-connection/

And of course because of that:

Now that Trump has won, TransCanada wants to give Keystone XL pipeline another try

TransCanada said it hopes to persuade a new Trump administration to revive the controversial Keystone XL crude oil pipeline that President Obama rejected on Nov. 6, 2015.
Taking advantage of President-elect Trump’s vow to launch a series of major infrastructure programs, Calgary-based TransCanada said it was “evaluating ways to convince the new administration on the benefits, the jobs and the tax revenues this project brings to the table.”
“TransCanada remains fully committed to building Keystone XL,” the company said.
TransCanada’s seven-year effort to obtain a permit from the State Department needed to cross an international border was one of the central environmental battles of the Obama administration. Environmental groups count the rejection of the pipeline as one of their main achievements after Obama rejected the permit shortly before the international climate accord was signed in Paris.

Though the southern half of the pipeline was approved and completed years ago, the northern segment drew more intense opposition from a combination of farmers, ranchers and environmentalists. The pipeline would have carried up to 730,000 barrels a day of crude oil from Canada’s oil sands to a small town in southern Nebraska, where it could have connected with other TransCanada lines leading to the Texas gulf coast.

Climate activists opposed the pipeline because of the large amount of energy needed to extract the crude. Farmers and ranchers feared damage to water supplies in the event of a leak and opposed the use of eminent domain to take land for a project that would have no direct benefit for them.
TransCanada, as it did earlier, argued that the Keystone XL line would mean “tens of millions of dollars” in annual property taxes to counties along the route and a $3 billion boost to the U.S. economy. The company’s figures for job creation are widely disputed.
This year, on June 24 TransCanada filed an arbitration request with the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).  Negotiations have so far been unsuccessful. As a result, a panel of three arbitrators will determine whether TransCanada was treated unfairly under continent-wide fair trade rules. There is also a separate constitutional challenge to Obama’s decision that is working its way through a federal court in Houston.

And of course there is going to be more of this against protesters:

Police Fire Tear Gas On DAPL Protestors As Pipeline Nears Completion
North Dakota and out-of-state police sought to prevent protestors from reclaiming land that belongs to the Sioux from the Dakota Access pipeline.

Dozens of protestors demonstrating against the expansion of the Dakota Access Pipeline wade in cold creek waters confronting local police, as remnants of pepper spray waft over the crowd near Cannon Ball, N.D., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016.
With the election furor drowning out most other stories, the struggle to prevent the construction of the Dakota Access pipeline has fallen from the public view. However, the situation there is escalating as the controversial project is nearing the completion of the pipeline’s North Dakota segment. The main section that has yet to be completed is the most controversial of all – the crossing of the Missouri river. The pipeline’s river crossing is the aspect of the project that the Standing Rock Sioux and their allies are most concerned about as it presents the greatest threat to their water supply and the surrounding environment. The river crossing is also a contentious issue as the company behind the Dakota Access pipeline, Energy Transfer Partners, lack the necessary permit to bore under the river, meaning that this phase of the pipeline’s construction will be illegal unless a permit is acquired. However, the company and its partners have said that they expect to receive the permit in short order, though doubts have been raised as to whether the company will wait for the permit to advance the project.
Protestors have been planning and executing acts of resistance against the pipeline as its construction nears its final phase. On Sunday, protestors opposing the pipeline held three separate actions, including one in an area known as Turtle Island. Turtle Island is claimed by both the Standing Rock Sioux and the US Army Corps of Engineers. However, an 1868 treaty claims that this piece of land, as well as much of the land surrounding the pipeline’s construction, is territory unceded by the Sioux to the federal government, weakening the Army Corps of Engineers’ claim that it belongs to them. Unfortunately, the US government has failed to consistently to honor the numerous treaties it signed with indigenous communities with the Sioux just being one more example of the federal government’s hypocrisy.
Protestors sought to reclaim Turtle Island by canoeing across a creek, with about 200 people eventually amassing on the island’s beach head. SWAT officers soon appeared and threw tear gas canisters into the crowd, though protestors wearing protective gear were able to neutralize them by covering them in mud. They began to advance up the edge of a hill on the island, with law enforcement continuing to throw more tear gas into the crowd. Soon after, a man appeared claiming to speak on behalf of the leader of the Standing Rock Sioux David Archambault II, saying that negotiations had led to a 30 day pause in the pipeline’s construction. This led the crowd to eventually disperse. However, the Army Corps of Engineers later stated that the pause was “only a proposal” and there continues to be no confirmation if the 30 day “buffer period” will go into effect. With construction nearing it’s final phase in North Dakota, now is the time to support the people opposing the Dakota Access pipeline.
