Republicans abandoning Trump
WASHINGTON ― Republican lawmakers are pulling their endorsements for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump after the Washington Post released a bombshell video Friday in which Trump makes lewd comments about women.
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (Utah) was the first GOP member of Congress to peel off Friday night, declaring on a local TV station, “I’m out.” He said he didn’t know who he was going to vote for now, but it wouldn’t be Trump or Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. That was right after his home state governor, Gary Herbert (R), said he, too, was dropping his support for Trump after seeing the tape of him claiming he tried to have sex with a married woman and boasting of groping women because of his celebrity.
The floodgates were open by Saturday morning. Here’s a running list of the GOP members of Congress, senators and governors rescinding their endorsements for Trump or calling on him to step down, one month before the election, after seeing the video.
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (Utah)
Rep. Martha Roby (Ala.)
Rep. Chris Stewart (Utah)
Rep. Bradley Byrne (Ala.)
Rep. Joe Heck (Nev.)
Rep. Cresent Hardy (Nev.)
Rep. Scott Garrett (N.J.)
Rep. Ann Wagner (Mo.)
Rep. Rodney Davis (Ill.)
Sen. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.)
Sen. Mike Crapo (Idaho)
Sen. John Thune (S.D.)
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.)
Sen. Deb Fischer (Neb.)
Sen. Dan Sullivan (Alaska)
Sen. Cory Gardner (Colo.)
Gov. Gary Herbert (Utah)
Gov. Dennis Dauggard (S.D.)
Gov. Robert Bentley (Ala.)
There’s also some GOP lawmakers who didn’t support Trump before but are now taking it a step further and saying he needs to drop out. They include Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Mike Lee (Utah), Ben Sasse (Neb.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Reps. Mike Coffman (Colo.), Barbara Comstock (Va.), Fred Upton (Mich.) and Charlie Dent (Pa.).

Re: Republicans abandoning Trump
The RNC is meeting this weekend, the agenda being what is lawful in replacing a candidate a month before the election?
One reporter asked an attendee if the RNC is planning on removing Trump, and can they? The answer was, no...we think he might remove himself and we are just exploring our options in that event.
Plot thickens...

Re: Republicans abandoning Trump
Indeed -- some are speculating that Mike Pence might assume top-ticket status, I think he'd say no. There's so much talk of him being a great candidate in 2020, why would he want to mess that up with a doomed candidacy that begins a month before Election Day?
Apparently the RNC has already considered what they'd do if Trump resigned the ticket, this was in the aftermath of the Khan fiasco. They concluded at that time that they could viably replace him if he stepped down before Sept. 1; after that they'd be stuck with him.
Trump is insisting he won't step down. Tomorrow night he's going to the second debate in which he's going to be confronted with questions from the general public. What are the odds he has a total breakdown on live TV?

The problem with Pence is he lies. He was caught in the VP debate telling several lies, including his praise of Putin over Obama. He denied it, and they had the tape ready in a nanosecond.
He's a typical Republican, silver-haired, smooth-talking liar. He's too young, and too new to the big-time game. Hillary would havel his lunch.

Starting to seem like the best the GOP can do from this point out would be to avoid a Democratic wave that would cost them even the House at this point. If a lot of people vote and most of them go straight-ticket Democrat, they could lose both chambers. But if they're going to do that, Dump is going under the bus.
Re: Republicans abandoning Trump
Just saw that out of 331 Republican governors, senators and members of the House, there are only 45 that still support Trump. This could be a shellacking.
Re: Republicans abandoning Trump
I RECKON that at this late stage, it says even more about Trump's few remaining supporters than it does about the Trumpster himself !!!
Giuliani, for instance -- What's the odds that his well-publicised bout of cancer rotted his brain, to see him hanging in there ?

Our own racist Republican Katie Hopkins was still slobbering over Trump on LBC this morning. She wants his children. Him sperm will have a lot of competition with the copious amounts of jizz that have been pumped up her by a plethora of lovers.
They dont call her Flora ( spreads easily) on LBC for nothing.
Ffs what is wrong with the woman. Trump's latest outrage is that he would shag his own daughter and finds her 'voluptuous.'.
The guy is a sleazy pervert.
If enough stones are unturned, I bet he even screwed kids. He is another sex monster, the stories are only now coming to light.

That is a most important point, Les. Gd for you. Donald Trump is simply the culmination of the under-the-table lies that Republicans have harbored all along. Ya know, Iraq has WMD-type lies, that are spoken in code, not in public.
The racism of Lee Atwater comes out in the McConnell-Boehner doctrine, and is echoed when a Congressman Joe Wilson shouts: "You lie" when Dr. Obama addresses Congress. Trump's nationalistic claims are echoes of a motorcycle gang's territorial beliefs. His hatred of Hispanics is crass peonage. His attitude toward women is reflective of Rodney Dangerfield's comment in Caddyshack: We're all gonna get laid!!
None of it is new with Trump. It's all Republican sub-stratum ideology, which has been held by them ever since Calvin Coolidge gutted their last good thought.

NOT ONLY has the Dumpster -- along with his more ardent cheer squad members like Giuliani and Christie -- been exposeded repeatedly as a sleazy and perverted misogynist...
But also that 24->>25% of potential voters who keep on supporting him -- many of them, male and female, are likely to harbour such potentially dangerous proclivities as well..
And, scarily enough, the numbers probably aren't that much different in most other countries, either -- if their forebears were willing to slaughter "savages" back in colonisl times, stealing their lands, raping their daughters, and enslaving their children -- then their more extremist descendants today are often likely inclined to be just as exploitive, usurious and sexually deviant ???

Nigel Farage has just been interviewed on TV about Trump and his remarks about women, he reckons that whilst his remarks are 'ugly' they seem to be upsetting the press more than Trumps supporters.

Farange is stating the obvious. At issue here are neither ardent Democrats, nor the Trump base (I hesitate to call them Republicans in the wake of all the RW party defections). At issue are the huge population of undecided voters, who represent that 8 - 12% that have been floating in the middle.
Cut it another way: 52% of all voters are women. They probably represent a huge part of those floaters. I doubt they have either chuckles, or any sympathy for Trump's "locker room banter".
It's true that the hard rock of Trump supporters cannot be budged, but with this, neither can he grow his support. He's already way behind, and this can't help.
Additionally, look what it's doing to the down-ballot races. The Democrats probably have won back the Senate, and they may well take back the House despite 2010 Republican gerrymandering. Remember, Southern Baptists are at issue when it comes to irreligious banter like this.

Of course. And Clinton would oppose any attempt to remove him. Besides, many states would take to the courts...the ballots have already been printed, and in ten states early voting has already begun.

Of course there are dozens of state polls. But only the national polls count. Trump is down about ten points as of this am.

First, it's a questionable allegation, at best. It reeks of Republican lies like Benghazi and emails.
Second, no...polls show that women (52% of the electorate) applaud any sort of retaliation against a woman who goes after their husband. They feel its justified.
