Why dont the 50 guests looking in join the forum and tell us to all pee off if they want to?

At the end of every thread is a list of "similar topics"
Eg in a thread about books you will see similar topics about bookshops, printing shops, novelists, biographies etc
If you click on any of those topics and start reading you immediately show up in their stats as a ''guest' on their site.

The 'guests' showing at the bottom of this forum could be people in Iceland, Queensland, Pretoria, Hong Kong ...
Possibly reading this forum as a one-off event in their lifetime ...

I have never understood lurkers myself...if a forum interest you join it....if it doesn't why read it in the first place.

have you considered that several of them are in fact search engine bots

possible but we do have a seperate count of bots (2 as a type)

go into the admin panel and look at the ip's for guests, many will be msn, amazon, google, etc.

and of course as threads can end up in search engines it could just be people who found something they were interested in and came to have a look.
it's not always sinister.
Although at least one will turn out to be philagain

Rubbish...this is one of the most uncliquey forums I have ever joined.
And that includes "Embroidery for beginners"
