Unfortunately, nature doesn't respect geographic jurisdictions.
If they start genetically modifying crops in France and Belgium, it'll soon blow over to Britain.

WHAT makes anyone believe that someone(s) isn't already growing GM'd crops in Britain, somewhere ???
The Ministry of Agriculture has probably been conducting trials for some years, already; even if there aren't any widespread plantings..

You don't clean up GMO. That would be like putting toothpaste back into the tube.
We don't have the technology to reverse organic processes. If we did, we'd have a cure for cancer, TB and indeed, old age itself. What most physicians do is make conditions right for the immune system to cure itself. And we are even unsure how that works.
Reverse cross-pollination? Uh-huh.

New Scientist wrote:“Countries that are anti-GM also feed their animals GM feed,” says Spath. “It’s ironic that the countries that vote against approval of GM crops still import large amounts of GM ingredients for their animals.”
Indeed. Nature doesn't distinguish between crops for feed and edible crops for humans. Pollination happens across the street, and there's nothing to be done about it.
It's like your daughter getting pregnant by the n'ere-do-well from across the tracks. Shit like that happens!

ROADS, horses, concrete, cats, plumbing, indoor toilets and bathrooms, medicine, education systems, pasta, tropical fruits, infernal combustion engines, bicycles, electricity, cars, telephone, aeroplanes, television, colourbond steel, organ transplants, the internet...
All of those "foreign" items, articles and inventions that have been introduced into the British Isles over the last 2,000 years -- none of them would have been there if it was left up to the likes of Tommy, Major and Scrat with their anti-foreigner rhetoric..
They'd all still be living in earth huts and walking everywhere, if progress and developmemts were left up to them.
That way of thinking does indeed sound a lot like the "What have the Romans ever done for us ?" lines from Monty Python's "Life of Brian" , doesn't it..

It's scary and totally unethical that ONE firm would have control over a third of Europe's seed supply. This is basic food we are talking about, not a luxury. It's the start of a slippery slope.
Rich irony that the only other thing the company is famous for is the manufacture of indigestion tablets, alka seltzer.
