Remembering Srebrenica
The First Minister will travel with Remembering Srebrenica and meet survivors and the bereaved in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina where over 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed. She will also lay a wreath at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial and Cemetery.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:
“It is a privilege to visit Srebrenica and learn first-hand how survivors and bereaved family members of the genocide have fought to preserve the memory of their loved ones.
“Scotland has longstanding links with Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing support and assistance to those in need during the conflict of the 1990s.
“The Scottish Government will preserve the memory of the Srebrenica genocide – the worst atrocity on European soil since the Holocaust – through education, commemoration and close relations with Remembering Srebrenica Scotland”
“We too have a role and responsibility to ensure future generations are able to remember and learn from the failure to protect Srebrenica.”

Was your concern for Albanian refugees along the lines of Tory Roger Gale?
There were many in Scotland from Albania but it appears Gale didn't want them in the UK?

Re: Remembering Srebrenica
I read your link...
It was from 31st March 1999...
"...in january 1999 another 840 Kosovo Albanians followed suit, with another 680 coming in February. No figures are available for March.
A Home Office spokesman said the majority had entered illegally and claimed asylum when they arrived at Heathrow airport, Dover or Folkestone ferry ports or the Channel tunnel terminal at Ashford.
But it is thought there are also several thousand illegal immigrants who have not applied for asylum.
The Home Office spokesman said there was a "considerable backlog" of asylum applications with some refugees having to wait several years before finding out if they can stay in the UK.
"If there is evidence to indicate they have come from a third safe country where they could have claimed asylum they will be sent back there," he said..."
Labour were in govt then...!!!

Re: Remembering Srebrenica
This did trigger an old memory from a discussion I had about the Bosnia debacle and some events that Clinton had participated in and then GWB had slugged around with but the part about the 'Mafia Boss Criminal' being hailed by the Hague as a 'seriously ill man'; for some reason was what brought me right back to an interview segment on '60 Minutes' from 2009 > > >Irn Bru wrote:The First Minister will travel with Remembering Srebrenica and meet survivors and the bereaved in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina where over 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed. SMH, so often my country does such heinous things in the name of the all mighty 'CRUDE OIL' but then when they have the opportunity to circumvent a horror of a Mafia type thug taking over an area like this and getting away with such heinous genocide ...well it just upsets me to no end.RATKO MLADIC VIDEO - LEAKED BY FTV "60 MINUTES"

This was your point Bru... from an article in 1999 when labour were in govt and a Labour home office minister was saying the Albanians arriving were illegal immigrants and should be removed!!!
Now... what about the links I posted...!?
It seems that your pro Muslim pro Albanian thread is made at a time when in reality today it is the albanian Muslims who are causing trouble over there and persecuting the Christian minorities and burning and destroying churches...!!!
Why are you not talking about this...!?

If there is evidence. Do you agree with him? And which Labour minister was that? What about Gale then?
And this thread isn't a pro Muslim pro Albanian thread or has Srebrenica been moved to Albania.

Re: Remembering Srebrenica
Epitaph for an Army of Peacekeepers: The British Army in Palestine, 1945-1948
These words are from a British soldier who served there;
The author enlisted in the Royal Artillery as a Regular in May 1946 when he was just under 18 and after training, was posted to 2 Field Regt RA in Palestine (soon afterwards re-numbered 41 Field Regt) where he arrived in March 1947. From then until he left Palestine with his Regiment when the United Nations Mandate to Britain to govern the country expired, he was exposed almost daily to the violence and verbal abuse which were experienced by all members of the British forces there, many of whom had taken part in the liberation of Jews held in Nazi concentration camps in 1945 and were now themselves being called "British Nazi bastards", an exhibition of gross ingratitude which was hard to take. Since his retirement from civilian employment, the author has spent many years in studying the role of the British forces and their terrorist opponents in Palestine, and has now written this book both as a memorial to all British servicemen who now lie in the military cemeteries of Ramleh and Khayat Beach, (a full list of whom appears in its pages) and a reminder, (if any were needed) that the terrorist leaders of yesterday more often than not become the honoured politicians of today.
THey even commorate these events despite protests from the British government

So do Virgin trains and their PR department.
Remember David Cameron removing the First Class head covers from the seats so that he could look like he was a man of the people?
Remember George Osborne buying a second call ticket and then sitting in First Class until the train conductor forced him to move or pay the correct fare?
Remember David Cameron leaving his top secret Red Box on the table of a train whilst he sauntered off to the foodbar for a snack. These seats were vacant whist he was away weren't they?
Were you outraged at the lies and deceipt in all that?
Support the passengers who claimed Corbyn was telling it like it was and not the corporate moguls. Stand up these people FGS

No it isn't just an excuse to bash Israel. The content of what was said was in relation to terrorists murdering British soldiers and the fact that Israeli terrorists did just that isn't a good reason to let them off from being critised for doing it.
They commemorate these events and stick two fingers up at the British government for protesting about it.
