Think Texas is hot now? Wait 85 years - Page 2 Empty Think Texas is hot now? Wait 85 years

First topic message reminder :

The New York Times ran a few depressing maps over the weekend that show how summer temperatures will be affected across the United States if nothing is done to slow or reverse the effects of climate change.

Between 1991 and 2010, Dallas saw an average of 44 days with high temperatures of 95 degrees or more. By 85 years from now, we’ll get about 133 a year. That’s more than one-third of the year.

And most of those days — 98 — will reach triple-digit heat.

If the projections hold, hot summers will extend much farther north in the U.S. than they do now. Even places like Minneapolis and Chicago, which get zero 100-degrees days now will have dozens each year by 2100.

http://www.dmagazine.com/frontburner/2016/08/by-2100-dallas-will-see-98-100-degree-days-each-year/

And my mother still wonders why I don't want kids ...

he rise in solar activity at the beginning of the last century through the 1950s or so matches with the increase in global temperatures, Usoskin said. But the link doesn't hold up from about the 1970s to present.

"During the last few decades, the solar activity is not increasing. It has stabilized at a high level, but the Earth's climate still shows a tendency toward increasing temperatures," Usoskin explained.

He suspects even if there were a link between the Sun's activity and global climate, other factors must have dominated during the last few decades, including the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Think Texas is hot now? Wait 85 years - Page 2 2187004795

IF THE WORSE predictions come to pass,  we will inevitably see wide water shortages and increased droughts, more extreme floods and firestorms, greater dislocation of agriculture and increasing crop failures; millions of farmers and fishers seeing their livelihoods destroyed ...

AND, as can be seen by certain denialists attacking this discussion, some people simply don't care if food and water shortages lead to three-quarters of the world's population starving; if people in communities close to the coast and on low-lying areas are dislocated en masse -- leading to the largest mass migration of humanity in the last 10-15,000 years; if increasing sunlight and heat leads to more cancers and heat-related deaths..

NOPE, just as long as the denialists, the lickspits and the anti-science brigade get to push their odious agendas..         sleaze

And actually, predicting the weather on a specific day (or even hour) in a specific place is WAY more complicated than predicting general climate trends. If you had just a dozen monitoring stations on each continent feeding you daily highs and lows for a decade, you could easily crunch that data into a good rule-of-thumb global prediction for the following decade with simple math.

Climate scientists have a lot more than that to work with.

Don't do your usual laughing at me post when I next say this, but I read somewhere once that the weather almost changes every four days. Four example, if it's sunny Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, by Thursday night it will rain or become windy etc

Have no idea if there's any logic or science to it but it almost, almost, works! (Well, over here anyway!)

There has been no significant temp change in last 20-30 years!!!

The solar activity has leveled off and so has the temp change!!!

But the sun is still kicking out more energy than it was 100 years ago so it will stay warmer than it was 100 years ago!!!

And don't forget that for 200 years or so before the turn of the century 1900, we were experiencing a cooler than normal period... temperatures have just returned to normal now!!!

QUESTION - Tommykins? Since you keep dredging this redundant non-issue back up; have you verified that those 'professionals' that sold their degrees to the highest bidder for their 'Denier Global Warming Opinions' were ever hired by NASA or NOAA for any of their printed material/data/stats and figures todate? Suspect
Infamous names of 'anti-global warming deniers you honor daily = Tom Luongon and one time NASA Engineer John Casey http://www.newsmax.com/Finance/MKTNews/Global-Warming-climate-change/2014/11/17/id/607827/  (a much better factual read then your feeble links but you'd have to actually READ it)
For example:

  • One leading scientist — Kevin Trenberth — admitted “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty we can’t.” A travesty simply because they were worried about losing their government funding.
  • In another email, Dr. Phil Jones — a leading “global warming” advocate at the United Nations — admitted that he used “Mike’s Nature trick” in a 1999 graph to “hide the decline” in temperature.
  • And another study done by Stephen Goddard at Real Science revealed just how ridiculous “climate scientists” can get with data manipulation. Here is what he had to say: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models.”

Because you keep harping about this BS from 2011 and this is NASA's data dated January 2015 and you just can't MOVE FORWARD with the research?

Global Temperature
LATEST MEASUREMENT:  January 2015
0.87 °C
This graph illustrates the change in global surface temperature relative to 1951-1980 average temperatures.
The 10 warmest years in the 134-year record all have occurred since 2000, with the exception of 1998.
The year 2015 ranks as the warmest on record. (Source: NASA/GISS). This research is broadly consistent with similar constructions prepared by the Climatic Research Unit and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The time series below shows the five-year average variation of global surface temperatures from 1884 to 2015.

Think Texas is hot now? Wait 85 years - Page 2 Gloti_zpsiqbkwui0

And here's the biggest JOKE on you and those that wrote up the BS & faked the data back pre - 2011 --- BTW - just because there were a 'few rotten apples' in the scientific/meteorologist field - did not make the entire world of those professional people grafters --- there were many - many that just kept right on doing their jobs and keeping their nose to the grind stone and ignoring the HOOPLA and they didn't fudge the records!

Seems ole' Mother Nature and the big blue marble we call earth is just going right ahead with it's very own method of: melting the polar caps - changing ice thickness - warming the oceans - increasing the oceans levels - hyping up the El Nina & La Nina wind currents and it's not going to give a RATS - ASS whether or not you believe the data or you don't believe the data!
Because the data is changing whether you LIKE IT OR NOT!

SO SUCK IT!   Razz

Question 4everatwat...?

Why do you keep on repeating the same discredited bullshit...!?

And with ever increasingly laughable excuses for what has been proven to be bullshit based deception on an industrial scale...!?

Have some facts...

HOW MUCH HAS THE GLOBAL TEMPERATURE RISEN SINCE 1880?

Averaged over all land and ocean surfaces, temperatures warmed roughly 0.85 degrees Celsius from 1880 to 2012, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (see page 3 of the 2013 summary report).

https://www2.ucar.edu/climate/faq/how-much-has-global-temperature-risen-last-100-years

And given the increased solar activity over this period... there is nothing at all surprising or unusual about the subsequent temperature rise.

Solar activity and temperatures have now risen back to normal levels that we had before the unusual previous 200 year cold period known as 'the mini ice age'.

Do some research into what I'm saying and stop being a mindless gullible fool spouting nonsense!!!
