And The Winner IS 'JOSHUA'; for a $49. lottery ticket he wins his own ISLAND!
WOULDN'T THIS BE JUST GRAND~~~
So now I'm wondering; would the real 'Joshua' please fess up is it Veya - is it our own WTWolfie ...I've already asked my ole Aussie internet curmudgeon buddy and all of his 9 children claim - "it's none of us"!
I just can't imagine - it would be fun to DREAM, but the reality - WOW.An Australian couple who raffled off their tropical island home pick the winner
Tickets cost $49 (£37.33) and more than 50,000 people entered the competition.
Up for grabs was the 16-room Kosrae Nautilus Resort on the remote Micronesian island of Kosrae.
It's been home to Doug and Sally Beitz since the 1990s but they want move back to Australia to enjoy being grandparents.
The draw was streamed live online and the winner is a bloke named Joshua.

There was a slight moment of anticlimax after Doug drew the winning ticket. He tried to get in touch with Joshua but he wasn't in.
The winner was eventually tracked down on his mobile and given the good news.
When Doug asked where in the world Joshua was from, there was a huge cheer when Joshua replied: "Australia".
Not much else is known apart from his first name (and he's from New South Wales) because the couple want to protect him from media interest until he's got his head round the news.

Before the prize draw, which had 75,485 entrants, the couple explained they didn't want to sell their home in the normal way because that would've been "really boring".
"We've tried to market it in a way where we are attracting people like ourselves," said Doug Beitz.
The former firefighter said he was hoping the winner would be "someone who likes warm weather, likes meeting new people from around the world and is adventurous".
Image caption A night at the resort costs around £90 and is popular with surfers and divers
"It's a big life change," he said talking about living on the tropical island.
It lies north of the Solomon Islands and southwest of Hawaii and is home to about 6,500 people.
The competition website says the resort, which is popular for diving and fishing, is debt-free and profitable, employs 16 full-time staff and has $10,000 (£7,618) cash in the business bank account.

The prize includes the manager's four-bedroom residence, five rental cars, two 10-seater vans, a pick-up truck and the resort restaurant.
The Beitz family originally said a minimum of 50,000 tickets would need to be sold for the contest to go ahead but they removed this requirement after the raffle began attracting global interest.
Doug and Sally's son Adam said it was his idea to stage a raffle to allow someone else the chance to live in paradise and run their own business.
"Everyone has crazy ideas, this one just wouldn't leave me alone," he told Australia's Channel 7 earlier this month.
"The thought of selling it in a traditional way is really boring."

Doug and Sally Beitz moved to Kosrae with their three young children in 1994 after seeing the island on a TV documentary.
They'll return to Queensland as millionaires after selling more than the original allocation of tickets.
With more than 75,000 sold, they walk away with nearly £3m before costs.

I wish it was me, I saw it and thought about buying a ticket, but never got around to it.

Well, shoot ~~~ could a/would a/ should a ...
I was planning on saving my change - picking up aluminum cans - making a junk run into the recyclers and cashing in some 401k before it lost any more funds and buying a one way ticket.
Surely you might have used an old book-keeper/accounting/payroll
person on that island! DANG IT!
And you didn't even buy a ticket

$US 49 equates to around $66 AUD, currently...
AND, there are sure to be some restrictions on what you can do there..
(Just imagine how much it could cost to build a big house there -- transport and labour costs alone would be a killer..).
AND then you need to sail/motor' out there;
And providing your own water (tanks, filters/stills.), power (solar, wind, generator ?), waste disposal (e.g. septic system, own garbage disposal site..) -- it all adds up.
Or, maybe you will only camp out there, for a couple of weeks at a time ???

A "WIN WIN" situation...
The owners wanted over $US 2 million for their resort..
They ended up getting over $3 million, by the story above.
The two friends from Wollongong who won the raffle ended up with a $2 million dollar-plus prize for their $66 ticket..
And the former-owners make a $1 million-plus bonus on top of their asking price...

And it's already an established resort business so there's no need for any more new building ... just maintaining what is already there. Marvelous ...wonder what the elevation is - rising sea leaves would be a concern

WHAT I reckon could be even better than living there permanently, would be to find a good manager (maybe, hopefully, from the existing staff..), and then only visit every couple of months to make sure they're running a 'tight ship', and not ripping you off...
SPENDING maybe three-quarters of one's time back on the mainland, doing other things -- with that island resort providing you with a nice annual income to live off..
BEST of both worlds.

One way ticket for me ...I do not fly small planes well, and that landing strip looked like a sea plane landing area ...nope, I'd be HOME!
