Married to a paedophile.
One womans story of being unknowingly married to a paedophile, and the shocking discovery that her own husband abused their young daughter and put the pictures up on a huge child pornography website, one he had been a key administrator in setting up.
10 years on Alice Wells, a British GP, has written about her life, and the effects this has had on her and her daughter,
The best selling book is called 'Eating the elephant'.
The guilt she, and anyone else in that position must feel, would be hard to bare. She knows that many people believe that she must have suspected, but she didn't.
It's hard to imagine what a mother must go through when she finds out the man she loved has been sexually abusing children including their own and displaying the pictures to millions of perverts.

"Reaching into the boot of her car, Alice’s eye fell for a second on an old picnic blanket there. In that moment, she returned to hell.
Ripped from the most ordinary of activities – loading up shopping in a car park – and transported back to the police interview room where she was shown a picture of a little girl on a different blanket in a different country who’d endured the most repellent sexual abuse.
Abuse, the officers calmly informed her, carried out and captured on the family camera by Alice’s husband.
The moment in the car park a fortnight ago is fairly typical for 45-year-old British GP Alice Wells*. At any moment her respectable, even mundane life can be overwhelmed by dark memories of marriage to a prolific paedophile whose secret perversion led him to help administer a child sex website.
And to him abusing their own four-year-old daughter and photographing it for the pleasure of the site’s other users."

I'd have to kill him. I'd pay for someone to kill that bastard.
I'd up and move as far away as possible and concentrate on healing my daughter.

He killed himself when he was found out Eddie, at least that's what his wife believed.eddie wrote:I'd have to kill him. I'd pay for someone to kill that bastard.

Perhaps she did have a hand in it. I'd be pissed off that he was dead before I could stick pins in his eyes so far that they pierced his brain.
I'm going to put a question out there, so don't shoot me down...but...
How/why does a child NOT tell her mother? See I've made it abundantly clear to my daughter that no one touches her (without saying why).
How did the daughter never mention things she did with her dad? Normally a child will tell you in detail what they've done all day!
How did the woman not have even an inkling? that something was happening? Perhaps it's me, but I can pick up on things with my children. (Admittedly I've never dealt with this kind of information)
I'm in no way, blaming the mum, just had to ask.

It's a good question Eddie. I don't know the answer , I think I also would have known if my son was being abused, like you I think I was so in tune with him and I would have instinctively known if anything was happening to him, but......it's easy to say that when we have not been through any such thing.
As for children not speaking out, I think that's a very complex issue, especially if the abuser is the parent.
Paedophiles are often very clever and know exactly which psychological buttons to press when they are abusing children.
This mum says that her daughter, even though very young when it happened, remembers, but has so far managed to lock it away....for the time being at least.
No doubt the book will stir it al up though, not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Re: Married to a paedophile.
Yes I just read the whole article in full.
I see that she, the mother, had a 6 month old baby plus the little girl "Grace", and she worked "100 hours a week" so perhaps she wasn't as in tune with her home life as someone who was around a lot might've been.
It's all a bit vague as these things often are.
Whatever the case I do hope she can find a nice man to share her life with and that will help to prove to her little girl that most men are ok and can be trusted.

Re: Married to a paedophile.
I can understand it if she never trusted another man again though. Experiences like this must cut very deep.
We also hear of children who have been abused, some only speak out about it when they are old....it's been a deep dark secret they have kept all of their lives, and they have never managed to have a full or succesful relationship.

Will you read the book HT?
It seems to be advertised everywhere, I have read a couple of extracts.
Now and again one of these stories written by the person who has survived all the horror catches the publics imagination.
I remember reading 'A child called it' trilogy a few years ago....it stayed with me for ages afterwards.

You'd get caught, and then you wouldn't have the chance to do anything.

It was. I saw Dave Pelzer interviewed on Oprah, talking about his life, I just marvelled at how he could have turned out sane after the most horrendous abuse he had suffered.
I imagine this woman will do the interviews as her book seems to be popular. It's amazing how people can come out of extra ordinary experiences and still seem 'normal', the human spirit is amazing.

He was an amazing boy and an amazing man. The fact he still visited his shit for a mother, even after everything, said alot for his character.
It was strange how she was a perfectly okay (ish?) mum to the rest of his siblings but she simply hated him?

For some reason she hated him, and made sure his siblings treated him badly too.
Hateful woman...and she was respected in the community too, as many child abusers are.

Re: Married to a paedophile.
After reading those three books, I couldn't read any more of that genre for a long time.
I get affected by that stuff.

Me too...once read they are impossible to forget.
After the trilogy by Dave Pelzer lots of people seemed to jump on the bandwagon, I read a couple more but they were so depressing.
I might read 'Eating the elephant'....it's told from a different perspective....still incredibly sad though.
