Disabled woman beaten bloody by TSA agents after becoming confused and afraid at security checkpoint

A disabled woman was beaten bloody by federal agents during an airport security screening while on her way to undergo treatment for a brain tumor.

Hannah Cohen set off the metal detector at a security checkpoint at the Memphis International Airport, and she was led away for additional screening, reported WREG-TV.

“They wanted to do further scanning, (but) she was reluctant — she didn’t understand what they were about to do,” said her mother, Shirley Cohen.

Cohen said she tried to tell agents with the Transportation Security Administration that her 19-year-old daughter is partially deaf, blind in one eye, paralyzed and easily confused — but she said police kept her away from the security agents.

The confused and terrified young woman tried to run away, her mother said, and agents violently took her to the ground.

“She’s trying to get away from them, but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor,” Cohen said. “There was blood everywhere.”

The young woman, who was returning home after finishing treatment for the brain tumor at St. Jude Hospital, was arrested and booked into jail.

Authorities eventually threw out the charges against Hannah Cohen, but her family has filed a lawsuit against Memphis police, airport police and the TSA.

Neither police department commented on the suit, but a spokesperson for the TSA said passengers should notify agents ahead of time if they have special needs.

“Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation,” said TSA spokesperson Sari Koshetz.

So now anyone with 'Special Needs' will be expected to carry a SIGN/BADGE/BANNER for those 'fuck-wits' at the TSA station in order for them to abstain from beating the hell out of a disabled human being!

THERE IS ONE BIG PROBLEM with the staff with these groups like the TSA, customs, FBI/Federal Police/Scotland Yard/Canadian Mounties, and the likes -- enacted as they are under our countries' various "Homeland Security/Anti-terrorist" legislations, to pretty well do anything they think is "justified" while being undemocratic, illegal, and in breach of various Human Rights agreements...

NO MATTER how incompetent, underhanded, bullying, unconstitutional, corrupt, sociopathic, undemocratic, or practically illegal, these personnel may be in their actions against innocent people -- said legislation still protects even the most evil and useless 'agents' of these various services from any legal or disciplinary action being taken against the worst of their activities; and exonerates them for being the outright bastards that they are..        

SO EVEN THOUGH people may clearly be able to sue the relevant governments for wrongful arrest, serious assaults, and the likes --  and may well receive $$millions$$ in damages against those agencies --  the guilty parties themselves will probably skate through unpunished, still working in the same jobs.

AND POLICE forces, government agencies, and their various associations and unions, still refuse and fail to understand why so many people consider so many of them to be scum, regularly referring to them as   's..

That's heart breaking, the poor girl.

It's confusing for ordinary people when they set off the metal detectors at airports. So I can imagine how panicked this girl became when she wasn't treated with care.

Can you imagine what her mother must have been feeling, knowing she had a brain tumour and hit her head!!!   Utter bastards.

Since I had a knee replacement I always trigger the alarm, some of the security staff at airports both here and abroad are dead bloody ignorant.

Been reading more and more stories about them being vile to disabled people.

BUT, the security forces are under so much pressure to ensure our lives are not lost.

I have encountered security all over the world and IMHO most of them are a bit backward edits and doing that job cus they cannot get bugga all else, they are big/pig headed ba****** in general..

Iwe flew from Vegas to LA and were giver quite a harsh security check, when we eventually arrived back at Heathrow our Samson cases had been wrenched op and a note put inside saying in short, we could do nowt about it.

When they discovered she was stressed they should have spoken more through her mother

b) was returning from HAVING her brain turmor treatment at ST, Judes Hospital 
And you couldn't get those simple FACTS RIGHT without f'ing them up just as quickly as those TSA agents did that reacted so deplorably.

Although the first line of op does claim she is on her way to somewhere for treatment for a brain tumor...


While it then says she is returning from treatment...


The op claims she is paralysed... but then claims she was running away from security...


The op tries to tell the story as being a poor paralysed deaf and blind disabled young woman with a brain tumor getting targeted/attacked/jumped on/beaten up by thug like airport security staff for no other reason than discrimination and them picking on disabled people.

That does happen a lot and it makes me wonder what the hell the editors are doing?
I used to work for a small local newspaper years ago, for quite a while (for me!). It was in the advertising section (I ran the large half / quarter / full page ads for the Motor section) and I had to write quite a lot of the ads up myself. I always proof read them and so did the editorial twosome we had. I knew the journalists in the main section of the paper and they were editing their stuff right up until it went to print.
So if our little itty-bitty paper can get it right....?

So she damn well should get compensation, they hit her head, she had just finished radiation treatment for a brain tumour.

Note, the TSA dropped the charges against her. Open and shut case. The TSA will settle up for sure.

Op article says she was on her way... then it says she was coming back after treatment... says she had other difficult problems... says paralyse... but seems she was walking through security checks the same as everyone else... then she set off security scanner alarm and was then requested to go though additional checks... much like anyone else would be... then she started kicking off and tried to run away!!!
