I'm always amazed in this day and age of free contraception, that people would want to bring a child into a life of poverty. If you don't have the money to support a child in the way you wish, then don't have them.

Re: Majority Of Brums Poorest Families Expect Worse For Their Children
this is another problem compounded and promoted by the Human rights act (unintentionally it MUST be said)
Viz this
Article 12 Right to marry
Men and women of marriageable age have the right to marry and to found a family, according to the national laws governing the exercise of this right.
and this is taken as an unfettered right to breed like rats.....with no regard to the affordability of doing so and putting the burden of affordability upon the state (and thus every one of us)
It is true that you have a right to "found a family"...it IS NOT true that you are free to do so at the expense of everyone else
as HT says.....if you cant afford it...dont do it
to think otherwise is to assume that your right ot posessions as elaborated in another article , gives you the right to HAVE those posessions without first earning them

Re: Majority Of Brums Poorest Families Expect Worse For Their Children
Manchester is even above Birmingham in child poverty levels.
There are many different reasons why the kids are being let down....plus attitudes have changed drastically from a couple of generations ago as to how poverty is measured.
A good start would be to gradually introduce child allowance to stop after two children.
If people didn't have children they couldn't afford they could concentrate on the ones they do have.
Schooling is poor in many areas...better training for teachers and invest more money in education intead of cutting it to the bone.
