There is not anything "obviously created to insult or provoke members" as LF posted in my thread about Didge, it is/was a genuine concern.
I did NOT know Ettinger was Didge for the reason Miss Ragga explained.

FHS will you stop unnecessarily locking threads that will obviously peter out by themselves and do NOT break rules.

This despotism, control freak attitude which has 'suddenly' descended upon Newsfix needs to stop or people will become fed up and leave.

Storm: personal threads aren't allowed and had you only asked "where's Didge?" and left it there without the stupid remark you made (knowing it would turn into a bitchfest) then that would've been fine.

Vic simply nipped it in the bud.

I got to the thread too late, and Vic had already locked it.

I applauded him then, and I do now. Immediately, I had the thought that no thread should be built around any person.

It doesn't matter whether the idea is good, bad or indifferent. If you say only favorable things, the option is always there for someone to say unfavorable things...or, at a minimum, to disagree. This is why we avoid personal threads.

If it's something unique, like the person's birthday, or he just won the Nobel Prize, fine. But otherwise, it's not a proper focus for discussion.
