Texas man brings real gun to water gun fight — and shoots 15-year-old girl

Law enforcement officials in Spring, Texas said over the weekend that they were questioning a man after he shot a 15-year-old girl who was playing with water guns. Witnesses told KPRC that they observed two people having a water gun fight when the shooting occurred.“The man went over there to his car to get his dry clothes and he must have had the gun so he started playing with it and tried to do this and I thought he probably had it on safety and he accidentally shot the girl in her collar bone area,” neighbor Micah Stewart explained.

The bullet reportedly struck just inches from the 15-year-old girl’s neck.

Harris County Constable Lt. Daniel Garza confirmed that Cy Creek EMS “tended to the female who is reported to be in stable condition.”

Although deputy constables questioned the shooter, it was not immediately clear if he would be charged.

ON what grounds shouldn't that gunman be charged ?

Takes loaded gun out ot car.
Places finger over trigger.
Points gun at girl.
Shoots girl..


ALSO OBVIOUS here, is that neither the observer reporting the incident, nor the person writing up that report, seems to know the first thing about guns..

IF IT WAS a Glock type auto', the safety is built into the trigger -- there is no separate 'safety' switch on that type of handgun...


NO properly trained shooter would have their finger anywhere near the trigger.
No sane and respondible person would have even produced a gun in that situation anyways, then start "playing" with it,  loaded or not..

OF COURSE, he should have been charged !  And jailed..       
What possible "mitigating circumstances" could any gun lobbyist possibly claim in a case like this ?

He would have been charged with at least negligent assault or reckless endangerment--at least discharge of a firearm within city limits--in any northern city.  And probably in any responsible area of Texas.  

But this was Harris County...mishandling firearms and sloppy police work is a pattern there.  Remember, this is 2nd Amendment country.
