IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
First topic message reminder :
'IF I Lived in a Vegan World ?'
I wouldn't even be here, writing this !
ONE
First off, I would have been dead well before now !!!
A couple of otherwise minor disabilities and ailments, would have ended up being lethal - as treatments and cures simply wouldn't have been available, under the Veganism philosophy..
TWO
Secondly, EVEN IF I had been fortunate enough as to avoid those health problems;
I would more than likely never have found fulltime employment..
IN A "Vegan" universe, most of the jobs that I have had -- and a good slice of education - would never have existed in the first place !
INDEED, many of the jobs that others on here have/may have had also probably wouldn't have existed either..
THREE
FINALLY, even if one were lucky enough as to be born with robust health, and went on to find satisfying and fulfilling employment -- would you really want to live in the kind of world that Vegan zealots and PETA fanatics wish to impose upon the rest of us ???
JUST IMAGINE a world where:
You don't own any pets - no dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, fish, mice, rats, ferrets, reptiles;
The disabled and aged aren't allowed service and companion animals;
There are no antibiotics, vaccines, anti-venenes or many modern medical treatments;
Many 'traditional' and alternative therapies wouldn't be available, either;
There is no wool, cashmere, mohair, angora, leather, catgut;
No cheese, yoghurt, ice cream, milk or cream;
Only "vegan" wines and beers
No honey, and greatly reduced honeybee pollination;
No meat, including poultry, fish and eggs;
No horse (or camel, or elephant) riding;
No equestrian sports;
No fishing..

AFRAID NOT, Ragamuffin...
Pernicious Anaemia is treatable -- with a Vitamin B12 injection, every 2 or 3 monthe, for the rest of one's life..
A committed "Vegan" in such a situation - i.e. those totally opposed to any and all 'exploitation' of animals then has two choices -- either convert to 'vegetarianism,' (thereby allowing animal products, or medical procedures and products that utilise animals somewhere along the line..). or else be prepared to die from their medical condition..
MUCH THE SAME quandary as that faced by Jehovahs Witnesses and anti-Vaxers under similar circumstances.

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
Some vegans aren't against vaccines though?
Why do you lump everyone into one boat?
You almost seem disgusted by people's choice to be a vegan.
My cousin has pernicious anemia and has B12 injections - I already said this in a post above - and she's a meat eater.
She's not half-dying like you seem to suggest either.

I HAVEN'T PLACED everybody "into the same basket..", eddie !
The different groups put themselves into that position whenever their individual philosophies cross paths on the same issues..
IF A self-declared "vegan" is happy to use vaccines and other medical treatments that have either been produced or developed using animals at least somewhere in the process, then -- as Victor and others have so ably put it before now -- that person is being a hypocrite and a liar, by accepting those vaccinations and/or treatment..
MUCH MORE honest, and smarter, if those pretend "pseudo-vegans" had called themselves vegetarians, instead.

WHERE DID I suggest that a non-vegan with Pernicious Anaemia would be "half dying", eddie ?
I HAVEN'T said any such thing anywhere here, have I !

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
Well I cannot speak for the world's vegans, but if a person chooses to give up animal products to protect animals then they're also choosing to not vaccinate, I guess, and theta their choice....what's the problem!
It might be that they never fall sick or need treatment and that's ok.

The trouble is that you and other anti-vegan nazis is that you see the issue only in black and white. You just love to shriek about "hypocrites", but they're just doing what they feel is right for them. I know vegetarians who wear leather shoes. Do I judge them for it? No - but I bet you would. You meat eaters are no better. Most of you screech about how awful it is that people eat dogs or horses, but you think nothing of eating other animals.

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
Goat is delicious, I lived in a small town when I was a kid that had an annual town-wide goat barbecue. You basically just walked around eating all day, and you wanted to because everything smelled so good. And the town is in a valley so the aroma just kept circulating

THERE YOU GO, Ragamuffin !!!
PUTTING everybody into the same basket, again...
I HAVE no trouble at all with vegetarians wearing leather and wool, eating dairy and eggs, and keeping pets..
THAT all fits within the broader definition of "vegetarian".
NOWHERE on here do you see me attacking vegetarians, per se !
HOWEVER, "Vegans" are a whole different kettle of fish..
AS A PHILOSOPHY, genuine Vegans (as opposed to those pseudo-vegan frauds who only "talk the talk, but don't walk the walk"..) are committed to avoiding any foods, products and procedures that in any way involves the exploitation of animals...
THERE are two main problems that I have with genuine and committed 'Vegans' :
* THEY DON'T want to simply live in peace, and leave others alone to live their own lives -- on the contrary, as with other brands of evangelicals and fundamentalists, they want to change the world to suit their own stringent and narrowly focused agenda. Part of being a genuine Vegan means that that they want to --
• Demand that people stop farming, harvesting and eating any animals
• Stop people from using any animal products, and any products involving animals in their production
• Stop people from keeping pets and 'service' animals, riding horses, hunting even feral animals and pests..
IF anyone knows a self-declared "vegan" who doesn't adhere to the above tenets, then that person is a liar and a fraud, pure and simple..
NOWHERE ON HERE, do you find the omnivores and carnivores among us making similar demands on others...
* SECONDLY, if a self-declared "vegan" talks the talk, but then goes and wears animal products, uses medical procedures dependant on animals, or still keeps pets themselves -- then, as Victor and others have said before, they are hypocrites as well as frauds and liars..
AS WITH many other kinds of fake religious/charitable/philosophical opportunists, those frauds "wearing their 'beliefs' on their sleeves'' as some sort of a badge or label, are among the worst hypocrites that we ever encounter.
