IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
'IF I Lived in a Vegan World ?'
I wouldn't even be here, writing this !
ONE
First off, I would have been dead well before now !!!
A couple of otherwise minor disabilities and ailments, would have ended up being lethal - as treatments and cures simply wouldn't have been available, under the Veganism philosophy..
TWO
Secondly, EVEN IF I had been fortunate enough as to avoid those health problems;
I would more than likely never have found fulltime employment..
IN A "Vegan" universe, most of the jobs that I have had -- and a good slice of education - would never have existed in the first place !
INDEED, many of the jobs that others on here have/may have had also probably wouldn't have existed either..
THREE
FINALLY, even if one were lucky enough as to be born with robust health, and went on to find satisfying and fulfilling employment -- would you really want to live in the kind of world that Vegan zealots and PETA fanatics wish to impose upon the rest of us ???
JUST IMAGINE a world where:
You don't own any pets - no dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, fish, mice, rats, ferrets, reptiles;
The disabled and aged aren't allowed service and companion animals;
There are no antibiotics, vaccines, anti-venenes or many modern medical treatments;
Many 'traditional' and alternative therapies wouldn't be available, either;
There is no wool, cashmere, mohair, angora, leather, catgut;
No cheese, yoghurt, ice cream, milk or cream;
Only "vegan" wines and beers
No honey, and greatly reduced honeybee pollination;
No meat, including poultry, fish and eggs;
No horse (or camel, or elephant) riding;
No equestrian sports;
No fishing..

It seems to me that you're the one who wants to impose your lifestyle on vegans. If someone wants to be a vegan, just leave them alone.

And if all the animals died out....
You would have to be a vegan!
And guess what? A lot of the animals would survive being vegan too.
You're a great guy Wolfie, but this thread is meaningless.

NO, Raggamuffin !!!
WHAT YOU need to realise, is that "Veganism" isn't the same as vegetarianism..
THE TWO TERMS aren't interchangeable ! Not by any measure..
VEGANISM is a pholosophy that its followers wish to impose on everyone else in the world..
Vegetarianism is a means to avoiding meat in one's diet...
Omnivores, carnivores and the various kinds of vegetarians don't seem to have an uncontrollable urge to convert everyone else to their lifestyles..
"Vegans" on the other hand, can't control themselves !
You only have to take a wander through the PETA website, to witness the lies, twisted half-truths and wicked campaigns that their "Vegan" staff members are constantly running..
AND THEN THERE'S their desire to greatly reduce the world's population -- not only human, but many animals as well !!!

I'm already aware of what veganism is, thank you. I don't think that all vegans want to impose their wishes on everyone else. They might highlight the issues involved in the use and abuse of animals, but that's not the same thing. You clearly have an issue with PETA, which doesn't represent all vegans anyway.

Firstly, it's no good stating all those 'what if's' without some kind of verification of 'why'. How exactly would being vegan stop anyone from having a job?
Secondly, I've not met a vegan yet who didn't have a pet.
Thirdly, what about animals who are vegan and thrive very well on a vegan diet. When was the last time you saw an elephant with diabetes or fatty degeneration of the heart?
Most of our diseases are not caused by meat, but by refined foods, sugar and all the shit we pump into the meat.
Why would vegan's want to rule the world? I have vegan friends and they're not fanatical about it. They just live their lives quietly and don't begrudge anyone else what they want.

If a person were to fart continuously for 6 years and 9 months, they would produce gas with the equivalent energy of an atomic bomb.

BY THEIR OWN DEFINITION, a true "Vegan" is defined by their total opposition to ALL exploitation of any animals...
IF ANYONE keeps a pet, and still claims to be "Vegan" -- then they are lying through their teeth !
NO ifs or buts..
IN REALITY, they are vegetarians misrepresenting themselves as Vegans...
SECONDLY, dogs, cats, reptiles and carnivorous birds need meat in their diet..
AGAIN, anyone who has any of these pets CAN'T be a genuine "Vegan".

Why didge? Are you stuck in the old 1950's way of thinking or something?
Are you saying that rotting meat doesn't make people smell from the inside out?
Beans, eggs, pulses, don't you eat any of these as a meat-eater, which is what I expect you're referring to when you talk about vegans "smelling"
Lots of vegans eat raw food - vegetables etc.
They don't make you smell.

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
I take it that most meat-eaters, eat the following?:
Foods prone to producing gas generally are those that remain partially undigested, said Sanford H. Benjamin, MD, a gastroenterologist with St. Vincent Gastroenterology Associates in Little Rock, Arkansas. Some people also lack specific enzymes needed to break down certain foods, which then get acted upon by bacteria and create gas. Top flatulence-producing offenders include…
• Grains—including popular choices such as whole wheat and brown rice…plus barley, bulgur, corn bran and wheat bran.
• Vegetables—especially asparagus, bok choy, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, collard greens, cucumbers, horseradish, kale, kohlrabi, onions, radish, rutabaga, tomatoes and turnips.
• Legumes—most notably beans (especially lima and navy), lentils, peanuts and peas.
• Fruit—particularly apples, apricots, bananas, grapes, melons, peaches, pears, plums, prunes and raisins.
Sugars—including sucrose (table sugar), lactose (in dairy foods) and maltose (found in grains)…as well as sugar alcohols (hybrids between a sugar molecule and an alcohol molecule), such as glycerin and maltitol syrup, commonly used in energy bars, sugar-free candies, soda and other processed foods.

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
Hmmm, since I'm not totally well versed in the eating habits of all of our animal/mammals/reptiles and birds/foul; I can only speak for the ones that I do know.
There is video proof that deer have been seen {caught on wildlife motion cameras} eating birds that were caught in nets ...so they often devour a meat/poultry source...unknown until the past few years.
Several types of primates have been found to have a diet sustained with other young primates and regional types of birds/baby animals...as they once were thought to just be a strict vegetarian type of diet.
My chickens too have enjoyed an occasional small snake and often a mouse foolish enough to attempt a stolen grain of their food. And if they're being cooped up in heavy winter snow starts causing them to feud and peck each other --- hanging a section of fresh rabbit skin from a hanger allows them some entertainment and stress relief.
Bloody deeply ingrained dinosaur habits are hard to break!
PETA---isn't against the use and ethical killing of our livestock for our eating enjoyment; they despise and want to STOP those cretins that just enjoy the ability to be so cruel to the unfortunate victims awaiting their turn to DIE! At least the PETA members that I know.

Beans, beans, the musical fruit; the more you eat, the more you toot." Beans may have a reputation as a "musical fruit," but for all their noisiness, they don't usually make farts smell worse. The same is true for most flatulence-causing foods, such as asparagus or chickpeas; they may make you fart more often, but they don't make your farts particularly stinky.
Sure, a vegetarian's diet — based on fruits, nuts, vegetables and legumes — is rich in fiber, but fiber alone isn't to blame for the increased gas production that comes with plant-based eating habits. The culprit is actually a type of sugar molecule called oligosaccharides. Oligosaccharides are too large to be easily absorbed through the wall of the small intestine, so they move through the large intestines unfettered — until they meet some of the 70-plus kinds of bacteria that live there. As these bacteria feast on oligosaccharides, they create an abundance of gassy byproducts colloquially known as farts [source: Soniak]]
While the jury's still out on whether vegetarians fart more often than omnivores, there is evidence that vegetarian farts may be among the least noxious. Or not as noxious as a meat-eater's farts, anyway.
The credit for smelly farts goes, in part, to meat that is consumed as part of an omnivore's diet. For the most part, meat contains high levels of sulfur, and sulfur-laden foods produce more odors as they are digested. When bacteria in the digestive system break down foods, it produces byproducts. When they breakdown foods rich in sulfur, the byproducts include sulfides and mercaptans, the gases that lend their unmistakable smell to farts. Hydrogen sulfide, in particular, causes passed gas to have an odor reminiscent of rotten eggs. The other gases produced during digestion — nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen and methane — are virtually odorless [source: Levine].
By contrast, most vegetables produce fewer smelly byproducts during digestion, like hydrogen sulfide, than meat.

Looks like someone didn't do their "medical" research properly

I gave a male friend a lift once, along with another female friend. He sat in the back. Halfway through the journey, he dropped his guts. I literally burned rubber to stop that fucking car, and then pulled a muscle in my haste to exit said vehicle. My poor girl friend got tangled up in her seat belt and suffered what could only be described as the side effects of mustard gas. After screaming, 'You dirty fucking bastard!' a few times, I finally got my breath and refused to take him any further. Subsequent enquiries confirmed he'd eaten substantial amounts of sardines, german sausage and a Holland's meat pie. I blame the pie!

Seriously...I've got tears running down my face~~~

of course you miss THE most important point
ANY ONE who is veggie/vegan for so called ethical reasons....
should by rights snuff it the first time they get any one of a number of minor infections....
since there (in their world) would not exist ANY sort of medication
and NO operations
no anaesthetics
....back to the stone age anyone.......

And you clearly have no sense of humour

Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps a vegan might not get ill? As opposed to a beer swilling, smoking, pie eating fat bastard.

Are vegans immune to diseases and viruses?

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
was just going to say being a vegan isnt going to help ptotect your child fron whooping cough from diptheria, from scarlet fever and a whole host of other nasties
It isnt going to protect them from tetanus...
being a vegan wont protect your daughter from rubella when it matters
it wont help her in child birth
it wont help you when you get a serious deli belli...
or that minor scratch (you thought goes all septic and gangrene follows...
it wont help put you back together when some loon knocks you off your bike and you need putting back together
etc etc etc ....

You would have to be a vegan!
And guess what? A lot of the animals would survive being vegan too.
You're a great guy Wolfie, but this thread is meaningless.
not while cannibal is an option
and the option taken on many small islands withtout large game
in fact ZERO vegan tirbes exist cause
they just became food for the cannibal ones
and that is beside the point abotu animals we woudl have to destroy all domestic animals as they have NO NATURAL PLACE except the situation man created them for, so if we don't use them there is no where for them to exist..
all those cute little dog breeds gone, cows, chickens, sheep gone.

Re: IF I Lived in a Vegan world.....
HoratioTarr wrote:eddie wrote:Beans, beans, the musical fruit; the more you eat, the more you toot." Beans may have a reputation as a "musical fruit," but for all their noisiness, they don't usually make farts smell worse.
