Jeremy Corbyn invited to speak at Glastonbury 2016 The Labour leader and shadow chancellor John McDonnell have been asked to address the Left Field stage audience at this year’s event
Following the Glastonbury festival’s tradition of fusing pop music and politics, Jeremy Corbyn and shadow chancellor John McDonnell have been asked to speak at the festival’s 2016 event.
In previous years, union leaders have taken part in debates at Glastonbury; however, Corbyn’s cameo would be the first party leader to appear. It is not known what the pair will address, though reports have linked Corbyn’s invitation to the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
While the festival has yet to confirm which stage both politicians would appear on, the Press Association claim that Corbyn would address the audience at the main stage on the final day of the event. A statement by songwriter Billy Bragg, who curates the Left Field Stage, meanwhile praises Corbyn’s impact on activism.
“The election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader has galvanised a new generation of activists, and this year at Left Field we aim to give them a platform to discuss issues around social justice, the economy, gender and the possibilities for genuine change under a Corbyn government,” Bragg said.
Last year’s event saw the Dalai Lama address thousands of festival-goers, endorsing the pope’s radical message on climate change and calling on fellow religious leaders to “speak out about current affairs which affect the future of mankind”.

Is he a terrorist supporter? I have seen no evidence of this.Gh bThe Didge wrote:So he will go to show his support of islamic terrorist groups whilst proposing leaving the Uk without an effective deterrent
But to clarify some types of terrorist supporting is ok for you yes?
He always says a political settlement is needed, and he is right. We bombed our way across the Middle East on Uncle Sams coat tails and all we did was create a total shit storm.

Where have I supported any terrorist movements that murder civilians?
So where and how do you come to that conclusion
If you say Israel, you will look silly Nems, as they are not terrorists

Do you want to know why?
Its also shows an ignorance on your part as do you know how many casualties were actually caused by bombings by the allies?
Compare this to the insurgencies in Iraq? casualties in the actual war were very few civilians at all in the liberation of Iraq.
Then ask why people born here who's only connection is Islam. Would only be angered at civilian deaths by the allies and not the opposing Muslim insurgency terrorist groups? Then tell me why where over half a million civilians have died in Syria, before any allied bombings, why we have not seen a mass of British Muslim rise up against ISIS, where instead we see in fact the opposite with Muslims joining them?
Why do they go from a normal life, to then think its okay to rape and enslave young girls, behead people and crucify them?
How is that down to the allies in Syria, when already half a million civilians died without any bombings having started yet?
How is that down to Iraq, where the vast majority of casualties were caused by the insurgency?
Do you think you can negotiate with a people that places the value of life secondary to death through martyrdom?

Used to be that it was just kids that went to Glastonbury, nowdays it's a wide ranging audience and a very good platform. As I has seen him personally and know what a very inspiring speaker he is, he will certainly get a lot of people thinking.

Well being as he is going to speak to many people, I think this is excellent, especially if he sows the seeds of his own downfall by going on about getting rid of our best deterrent.
I doubt he will last the year out anyway

He finds it so easy to speak to people and is so natural, he is not only topping Cameron in the polls now, but is mobbed wherever he goes, and instead of doing what the others do, he doesn't get people pushed aside, but actually talks to them.

Labour leader infuriated press pack by ignoring them, and instead talked to people who stopped him in the street
Jeremy Corbyn was mobbed by supporters when he took an unplanned walk through the streets of Bristol on Friday afternoon.
The Labour leader reportedly infuriated photographers and the press by ignoring them, and instead talked to shoppers and young mothers in Bristol’s Easton district.
Local media reported that Labour officials “were left tearing their hair out” after Corbyn stopped and held up the media scrum to listen to people who stopped him in the street.
Corbyn had left Westminster to campaign in support of Marvin Rees, the Labour candidate for Bristol mayor, who has sought to highlight the city’s stark inequalities and the plight of its poor.
Ian Onions, the political editor of the Bristol Post, described it as “a walkabout by a political leader like no other”.

That is fair on the US, but i can certainly be concerned over his dealings with Islamist groups that are not the promoters of equal rights and the well being of people Nems. Some groups you cannot make any deals with.
Like I say, there are so many different extremist groups, its not only an impossible task, but many place death over that of life.

I can't see Corbyn as the anti Christ , I really can't. He may not always be right, but he sticks to what he believes, not an accusation that can be levelled at Cameron. Now he IS vile!

I do not think much of the Tories either, but at least based on our security they are the far safer bet.
We are not being sold out to the Chinese, but I certainly am against some of the dealings we do with nations
So again out of the two on Uk security, its a no brainer to pick the tories.

I dunno. I agree he has missed an open goal a couple of times in PMQs and failed to get a grip of the tories mess. But he has done himself and the party a lot of good in Port Talbot and beyond this week.Didge wrote:Miffs2 wrote:

That is the pressing question Nems.
You can of course use the method of Absolute war, which clearly worked against the Germans and Japanese.
Where you go to more extremes than the enemy to win. The Russia v Germany conflict in WW2 was an absolute war, with little to no quarter given on each side
That is Von Clausewitz strategy
This may sound harsh and drastic, but how many problems have we had with each nation since their literal annihilation in WW2?
Anyway have to go
Take care nems
