Ben Nevis Rescue For Woman In Shorts
Sara Albone was carrying only a selfie stick when she decided on the spur of the moment to climb Britain's highest mountain.

A woman wearing shorts and trainers in blizzard conditions and carrying only a selfie stick has been rescued from Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain.
Sara Albone, 28, said she had decided to climb the mountain on the spur of the moment while she was taking part in a mountain biking tour through Scotland.
Sara Ablone
But the cross-country runner had only taken the light clothing for her bike trip - not the ice pick, poles and emergency shelter advised by experts for a trip up the snow-capped mountain.
She subsequently began to develop hypothermia after becoming disorientated.
She was found purely by chance while lost on the North Face of the 4,411ft peak, which has claimed the lives of several climbers in recent months.
stupid selfish brat
she should be fined and then charged for all medical & rescue costs associated with this. GRRRRRRRRRRRr

Stupid idiotic woman.
I agree. Make her pay a "suggested donation" to mountain rescue.

Re: Ben Nevis Rescue For Woman In Shorts
SUCH foolishness isn't unique to Scotland, either...
EVERY couple of years there are similar reports of ill-prepared and poorly-equipped dunces attempting to walk up cold, snowy or icy mountains :
Mt Ranier and Mt Whitney on the US West coast;
Trekkers wandering off course in the Himalaya;
Mt Cook and Mt Aspiring in New Zealand;
European areas such as the Alps and the Dolomites;
Even down here we have the Blue Mountains, Barrington Tops and Snowy Mountains - all of which can see people becoming trapped in sub-zero conditions with wind, rain, sleet and occasional snow storms..
Just a few days ago, there was an overweight and unfit walker had to be carried down from a mountain inland from Byron Bay and Mullumbimby on the NSW far north coast, when he was unable to descend under his own steam...

Re: Ben Nevis Rescue For Woman In Shorts
MANY probably don't think of possible difficulties or consequences, let alone consider escape routes or emergency actions, especially if they haven't attempted climbing or hiking at altitude or in cold weather before...
AND of course there is always that minority who believe that they are virtually invincible, and are under the delusion that they can achieve anything they set their mind to..
THEN there are those few who simply never think before doing anything.

What a very stupid thing to do. Never mind she put her life at risk, more worried about the people having to rescue her.

Stupid idiot.
Make her pay for the cost of the rescue AND let's have some volunteering at a search and rescue place....then again since she was so stupid as to do this maybe not. Fine her and cost of rescue.
