Facts for those who think multiculturalism is just something "foisted upon" the West
First topic message reminder :
* India has over 1,600 languages, significant numbers of people following nine different major religions, and over 2,000 different ethnic groups.
* Indonesia has over 300 ethnic groups, 700 different languages and although primarily Muslim, has significant Christian and Hindu populations.
* Kazakhstan has at least seven ethnic groups making up more than 1 percent of the population and adherents of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Bahai and pagan faiths, along with two commonly spoken languages (Kazakh and Russian).
* Mexico has a multicultural population with large numbers of people of Amerindian, European, Asian, African and Arab descent. While most people speak Spanish, over 60 indigenous languages are spoken by tens or hundreds of thousands of people, and there are large numbers of English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Hebrew speakers, among others. The country is mostly Christian (Catholic) but has plenty of Jews, Buddhists and Mormons, with smaller populations of other religious adherents.
The most multicultural countries in the world are actually in Africa, Asia and South America:

umm so you have no clue just stringing words together?Didge wrote:Raggamuffin wrote:You think that Aborigines should have their own Government?
They certainly should have representation and self determination to have control of lands, yes
Aboriginals are better represented than almost another minority
http://rightnow.org.au/artwork/political-representation-in-australia-how-representative-is-our-parliament/
and the TRIBAL CORPORATIONS control the land and sell mining rights etc to it in many cases. this has been the case since 1996 (when i was 13 to give you an idea JUST how ridiculous outdated you are) after the High court ruling in 'the Maboo settlement'

AND as I already pointed out
According to your OP no they are all one people and therefore do NOT have individual Nations. the OP is another example of Anglocentric propaganda that Dumb asses like you keep promoting so HYPOCRITE please express your Contempt for the way the OP belittles all indigenous Australians!!!!
You cant have it both ways either you believe in the aboriginal nations all 200 of them and the OP is Complete Racist garbage or You believe the OP

Again you are deciding for other people which you have no right to do.
Again you are trying to deny self-determination and now identities
You also have zero understanding of what racism is

1 for less than 2.5% of population.
and this is the same for every other minority group.
SO yes that is pretty close to correct and it is 2 now.
In the 2011 Census, 548,370 people identified themselves as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin, 2.5 per cent of the Australian population. A 2009 parliamentary research paper on the topic notes that if our Parliament reflected these numbers, there would be approximately three Indigenous members in the House of Representatives and one Indigenous senator.
and this is the same for every other minority group.
Twenty-eight members, or 12.4 per cent of the Australian Parliament were born overseas, although only ten were born outside of Europe. According to the ABS, over a quarter of Australians were born overseas (26 per cent). Of that, a quarter were born in Asia. If Parliament were to be truly representative, there would be around 50 members that were born overseas and approximately 12 that were born in Asia. In reality, Penny Wong was only the second Asian-born person ever to win a seat in the Australian Parliament.
SO yes that is pretty close to correct and it is 2 now.
