Worse excuse in history in regards to Domestic Violence

UN's Israel envoy says report is a distortion of the truth.

The report, issued for the 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women to be held March 14-24, highlights the situation of Palestinian women for the period from October 1st 2014 to September 30th 2015.        

According to the document, Israeli occupation is to blame for domestic violence against Palestinian women.It states that  “overcrowded living conditions and a lack of privacy” in Palestinian refugee camps causes “psychological distress among camp residents” which combined with “the unstable political and security situation and discriminatory gender stereotypes and norms” leads to this type of violence.  “Refugee camps in the Occupied Palestinian Territory are among the most densely populated urban environments in the world and the conditions in these camps have deteriorated over decades, in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank,” it adds. 

“Specifically for women and girls, this overcrowding limits their mobility, privacy and access to recreational spaces.”          

In addition, section 10 of the report described the November 2014 terror attack in Jerusalem’s Har Nof synagogue as an “incident" in which five Israelis and two Palestinians were killed.  

“This horrific episode was not an ‘incident.’ It was a carefully planned terror attack on a synagogue during morning prayers,” 
Ambassador Danon wrote in a letter to Ban. 

“By equating the ‘two Palestinian men’ who carried out the massacre and the ‘five Israeli men’ whom they slaughtered, those with axes in their hands are treated in the same way as those holding prayer books.”

“This report is a distortion of the truth and it should be amended immediately,” Danon stated.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) meets annually to discuss the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The 2016 theme for International Women’s Day, “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”, focuses on key targets of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda including: education for all girls, ending discrimination  and violence against all women and girls everywhere and putting a stop to female genital mutilation. 

The report on Palestinian women is expected to receive significant attention during the conference. This, Israel’s permanent mission to the UN said, will create an absurd situation in which Israel is the only UN member-state which will be singled out for its treatment of women.

So now because of the UN, any other abuser who uses violence against women or men can claim they have a defense if they live in crowded conditions. It shows a complete lack of understanding of domestic violence and if you think their views are credible on this then its clear that neither do you understand domestic violence

So do you want to tell the victims, that their abusers are not at fault, but because all the Arab nations have failed for decades to make citizens of these refugees and use them as pawns to continue a conflict with Israel. Keeping them in refugee camps. I mean everywhere else through history refugees have been taken in and made citizens of those nations. Are you also going to tell the victims that its nothing to with power and control as the root cause of domestic violence as this article is suggesting? That's a bit more nuanced than saying that Israeli occupation is causing Palestinian domestic violence, or that the Palestinians are using the occupation as an excuse for domestic violence.

Its making the view its occupation is causing this which is a falsehood, because the camps are run by the Palestinian Authorities. And the conditions are even worse for the Refugee camps in other Arab nations like Lebanon. You see its such disingenuous claims made by the UN that prove its unfit for purpose. Even the recommendations are around what the Palestinian authorities should be doing.

I suggest you study and research domestic violence.
I also suggest you look into how most domestic violence is ignored based on religious grounds.
I also suggest you ask why the many Arab nations maintain these camps and do not make them citizens as every other country makes refugees citizens in the world after a short time.

These camps are in the West Bank, Lebanon, etc, they are not controlled by the Israeli's and the occupation is mainly confined to area C of the West Bank. So yeah you tell me Ben why is it the Palestinian authorities and other Arab nations continually and disgustingly keep all these Palestinians housed in refugee camps. Palestinians who are now American citizens living in the US are still Palestinian refugees. Showing you do not need to house refugees in refugee camps permanently. So tell me Ben how and on what earth would the reasons they gave which have no experts view any of this on, have anything to do with Israel?

And even if we go to the root cause of why many are refugees. Well many are refugees who fled a civil war started by the Palestinians in 1947, joined by other Arab nations intent on wiping the Jews out.

So there is your root cause for their being refugees in the first place and many countless Arab leaders, who have refused to grant them citizenship, where even worse they retain less rights than citizens of that nation as the reason there are still refugee camps in the West Bank, Lebanon etc.

So again I ask, what has that got to do with the occupation which really is area C of the West Bank.

The above is not helping in any shape or form, its goading Rags, has no relevance to the debate and its this sort of antics that derails the thread. May I suggest that if you have nothing to add onto the debate, that you keep personal opinions about other posters with no relevance to the thread to yourself please.
