Taliban's Pakistan Links Are No Surprise
The snorts of derision could be heard from the CIA headquarters in Langley to the fortressed farmhouses of Lashkar Gah as the "news" that Pakistan had given safe haven to the Afghan Taliban's leadership was trumpeted around the world.
One can see the drug khan snort into his hot sugary tea while diplomats around the world roll their eyes after the adviser to Pakistan’s foreign ministry told a Washington think tank that the safe haven gave Pakistan a "lever" over the Taliban's leadership.
And that this was useful when approaching peace talks with the central government.
As anyone who has been to Pakistan or Afghanistan well knows, the links between Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agency and the Afghan Taliban are familiar – to say the least.
Over the last 15 years or more, Pakistan, in the view of British, American, German, Indian, Russian, and French intelligence agencies - and anyone else who has travelled between Kabul and Islamabad, including Ahmed Rashied, the world leading authority on the Taliban, who is Pakistani himself - the Taliban is the creature of Pakistani intelligence.

Yeah, and there's tons of evidence that Pakistani intelligence (at least elements within it) knew about the 9/11 attacks.
