In the news recently.. Barbie has expanded, not only is shape and size either.  There are now Barbie dolls to suit different body types and ethnicity.

Good. I wasn't being entirely sarcastic when I posted that. Laughing I do actually think that Barbie dolls give a bad impression, and of course the girls who have them are very young. It's good that they're more realistic now.

I'm not bothered about the ethnicity really.

Apparently if the original Barbie was a real life sized woman she would be deformed and unable to walk properly.

Exactly - a huge head and tiny body.

I didn't have a Barbie, I had a Sindy - in fact I still have her. She was much more wholesome - still too skinny though. Laughing

I had neither, I liked a more robust doll.

Actually my favourite doll when I was a kid was a black doll made of plastic, I called her Nancy. She was a bonny baby, not a stick thin woman like doll.

That's the trouble with dolls which are supposed to be adults. They designed them with a child's figure in mind, and then added boobs. At least dolls which looked like babies were more realistic.

I have Sindy's boyfriend and sister too. I also had Tressy and her sister, Toots. They have hair which grows very quickly on the click of a button - I wish I could do that. Laughing

I had Sindy too. And also, oddly enough, a Farrah Fawcet Majors doll scratch

And, I'm sure I'm remembering this correctly, but a Dusty Springfield doll??

I think lots of singers/actresses had dolls made, it upped the coffers.

It's only really come to me tonight, the memory.
I'm wondering if I called her Dusty and have got muddled?
I'll ask my mum tomorrow - if she even remembers herself!

There was a doll called Dusty - maybe it's that one?

Dusty was made in 1974 or 1975 and had a mate called Skye.
