More than half of all teenage girls in Pakistan believe domestic violence is justified, report reveals
The girls said that 'refusing sex' would be a valid reason for a man to beat his wife. A report carried out by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has revealed that troublingly, more than half of all teenage girls in Pakistan believe that domestic violence is justified for at least one reason. Refusing sex was just one of the reasons girls aged between 15 and 19 believed a husband would be justified in beating his wife, while more than 30 per cent of girls of the same age had already experienced physical or sexual violence in Pakistan. The report, entitled ‘Sexual and Reproductive Health of Young People in Asia and the Pacific’, also included data from Cambodia, India, Bangladesh and Nepal which revealed similar attitudes about violence against women among teenage boys, the Express Tribune reported. Between 25 and 51 per cent said that wife beating was justified. It was discovered that factors such as low education, unemployment and family history of violence were linked to acceptance of violence in the home.

Here is the actual report, which I have to say is both good and poor, where it is recognizes a problem, but does not show all factors that leads and creates these problems. One being religion also playing a part. So again was this deliberate in making as little as possible mention of religion? If that was the case, then they would be fundamentally placing the needs of these young people seconded to sensitives over a religion. Which would be disgusting. Religion is not mentioned once in the report but religious beliefs playing a part in sexual behavior. Hardly talks about the child bride situation as well. The next point then to be asked is how many of British families of Asian ethnicity in the UK have suffered such abuse or believe it is acceptable? Problems like this need to be talked about and on how we can improve peoples lives

No, I thought the question would provoke a discussion on cultural relativism. Seriously...whatever culture we live in inevitably brainwashes its inhabitants, else it couldn't survive. It's values, beliefs and symbols are imprinted onto one from birth.
Look at America: guns, guns, guns. Or America's racism! And people from other cultures--say, Australia, Britain, Germany or France--are aghast The same works on the good side of the scale, too. I mean, it's just cultural relativism.
