Texas
Hi Ben
Do you live anywhere near the location that the TV series Dallas was filmed? (Southfork ranch)
In the 80's we just used to love that TV series...I have fond memories of watching it with my mum...We were glued to the TV! :D

Re: Texas
Texas is a mighty big state, Phil.
Here...compare. Dallas/Ft. Worth is maybe due east of Aberdeen in that overlay depiction (to scale).

Thanks for the education!
I had no idea at all.

Re: Texas
Still, Dallas is a significant metropolis. Not as big as Houston, but probably the major banking center of Texas.

No doubt, it's all relative, veya. Australia is a continent, not an island. Lots of good stuff down there.

Re: Texas
I live in Europe!
One question!
You have massive houses in the very big countries, even in the poorer neighbourhood areas they seem very big!
...Much of the furniture that we now get here in the UK is too big to fit in our houses, my brother owns a four bed detatched house and he had problems getting new furniture in!
Here.(London)..If you want any kind of decent furniture in a terraced (converted) Victorian house you have to arrange to have your windows taken out!
...Went off track a bit, but how can you afford to heat those massive homes of yours, or is it always hot everywhere so heating isn't an issue?
What about air conditioning?
Is that cheap?

What about Spain!
That isn't an island...But it is much like England, in that it is built up in the towns and cities etc...But it has lots of countryside that hasn't been built on.

Re: Texas
We are an Island. We are just also a continent (Australia and Antarctica are the Continental Islands the others all touch another)
I couldn't find one with just New South Wales but we are Bigger than Texas and we are one of the mid sized states.
Like Canada (they have states bigger than England too) it is relative.

Well in the image I posted
Uluru and Alice Springs would be just below the bottom ok UK map, and then there is nothing much (a few big mines but they are fly-in/fly-out workers) until Darwin which is on the North Coat. From A European perspective there is nothing in the entire region the UK covers, pretty much all Desert until you get North enough to the crocodile estuaries.

Yes, Europe, like the Eastern US, is used to smaller dimensions. Plus, you guys started building when people didn't have vitamins to help you grow tall. So you have a lot of small homes made for little people (see: Hobbits).
Now, god forbid the furniture comes from the US. Queen sized and California-King sized beds (note the western influenced culture). Lazy-boy sofas. Dining room tables for 6 or 8...being healthier, we have more children. Haha...we also have better teeth, although we have supported a generation of orthodontic specialists. And you can't get these fucking things through your doors...the Lazy-boys, not the teeth.
Go to your local counties and councils and demand better housing. In particular, demand that you no longer accept 5' 5" high doors and beams that you have to duck under. Napoleon is of a bygone age, tell them. Demand more. You want Bel-Air mansions and 5-bedroom tract homes like they have in the communities north of Phoenix.
You guys have got to develop an American sense of entitlement. Demand more. After all, what the hell is government for?

LOL...That is so true!

My teeth aren't fantastic...But the first thing that i intend to do, when i'm able to do so, is to replace the whole top half, the bottom half can be dealt with through lazer whitening but i would have to get over my fear of dentists (bad experiences in the past)

Chance would be a fine thing..When my brother and i go into property development business..Even if we didn't i will have enough money and finances to buy a flat up north and never have to worry about finances again, i could be a silent partner with no worries

I don't need to demand more as my future is secure no matter what, but i worry about others that aren't as fortunate as i am.

Re: Texas
I haven't had that much out of the original inheritance, My brothers had 50K each..So my share of the mortgage free property in Spain is going to be very high when it's eventually sold.

Re: Texas
....It was all designed by my very astute mother, that when the main property was sold...Then we would be lifted out of poverty...Because the lump sum would put me in a position to call the shots.

Re: Texas
...Not that my two brothers are that worried about how much the Spanish property goes for..I have one of my brothers that wants to hold out to get the best price for it..The other one wants to sell it off cheap!
He's a cunt and has plenty of money..He will try to sell it off cheap just to get at me!
LOL

Too right, Phil' !
Could probably fit some of those more typical English cottages and terraces inside my garage here !

................................................
EASY solution for you lot, there !
Saw off the excess pieces, and use them for firewood.. :::grouch::
My mate and i did saw one of our clapped out leather sofa (from China) in half...We put it outside our back door...Our neighbour complained because he could see it outside of his box room window!
He's such a cunt!

Australia is the smallest continent, and the sixth largest country, on this planet...
IF all of Oz's "external territories" were added on (especially nearly 40% of Antarctica.), we would then leap_frog the USA and China to become #4 ~ after Russia, Canada and Brazil..
Great Britain or Japan can be fitted within the state of Victoria - with room left over.
Texas or France will comfortably fit inside the boundaries of NSW.
Alaska will fit easily within Queensland's borders.
LOL
Try living in London!
It's hard to see the concept of big!

@bee
well global warming might be good for us.. refill the inland sea and we have our own Mediterranean instead of all this desert :::grouch::
I think we need to switch our urbanisation to the arid regions (since it is hard to farm anyway) we have the capacity to make our own Los Vegas (city in desert in mean, we already do the gambling better than them)
Or/And more farming of Kangaroos the meat is nice (like venison) and it much better for the environment, plus they can be raised in the regions too arid for Cattle.
