Super Bowl
The NFL is having its Super Bowl today, at 3:30 pm pst, in nearby Santa Clara. For those who don't know, that is the world championship of American football. In 2015 there were 100-million people watching the Super Bowl, giving you some idea of the magnitude of the event.
This time it's Denver v. Carolina, Denver has a superb defense, plus the old master at quarterback: Payton Manning. Carolina has the new wonder-boy at quarterback, Cam Newton--big, both a threat to run and to pass--and a pretty good defense as well. But Manning hasn't had a good year this year, while Newton has been outstanding.
It's all up to: how good is Denver's good defense? Do they stop the wunderkind, Cam Newon? They say Newton is so big that getting to him isn't the problem...it's getting him to go down! Lol...might break your knuckles trying to punch 'em in the jaw.
I only watch football if a team I don't like has a chance of losing. This year is no exception. I don't particularly like Carolina, but I do definitely dislike Denver. So I'm gonna say Carolina 23-13.

True, and I'm not a real fan of American football. But the same criticism is devastating to the game of golf. I mean...watching grass grow? Big deal. And tennis...why can't they just keep hitting the ball? Go chase it if it gets away. FFS! Why have these little pansies in shorts go fetch it?
Stop-and-go games are a waste of time. Golf and tennis are only examples. Chess...what a waste! Boorrrring. And with the investigations going on into the NFL, and the Tagliabue crime family in charge, I believe those boys are as trustworthy as the tobacco industry.
Personally, I think basketball is the only game that is a truly legitimate test of athletic skill...running, hand-eye coordination, strategy, stamina and speed. Other games are...well, kinda fake.

Gd point. But they did invent English Rules Football, which is popular world-wide. It's another game that goes non-stop, all the way to the end.
The problem I have with English Rules football is most of the time it goes through 90-minutes and ends in a kick-off where one player scores and the other doesn't. Um...couldn't we just start with the kick-off, and when it's all over in 10-minutes we go down to the pub for a beer? Save a lot of time.

For BEN, the interest shown by the English for the usa,is non existant, We look on them as loud mouthed, fat and big headed, and they think they are the master race. Most can't tell their arse from their elbow and have no knowledge of the world outside of their own little bubble.

Aussies are very well travelled we just think of Europe as one nation since you may as well be.The United Kingdom ranks behind Australia, Canada, France and Germany, coming 13th on the list
but we have better chance of naming the nations of asia than you

Judging by this, seems you Brits need a master race!

Re: Super Bowl
Seriously, I think it may be time to shut down American Football. Not only is it in the hands of unprincipled cheats, but the whole thing is top-to-bottom filled with wife-beaters and players come down with post-concussion syndrome.
The post-concussion syndrome is spreading to other sports as well...English Rules football, Rugby and indeed all the contact sports. Sports leagues may become the new tobacco industry as the prosperous enterprises fight to keep going even though their very activity is the bane.
