Disneyland Paris: Man arrested after two guns and Koran 'found in suitcase'
A man has been arrested at Disneyland Paris after two guns and a Koran were found in his suitcase. The 28-year-old was on his way into the resort’s Hotel New York when the weapons were detected on, a spokesperson for the judicial police in Meaux told The Independent. A compulsory X-ray of his luggage revealed the firearms and the man was detained by Disney security staff before being handed over to police, who discovered the Koran and ammmunition during further searches. The man is believed to have told police that he took the guns and ammunition to the resort because he "feared for his safety", the BBC reports.
Police say they arrested him without a struggle.
Officers are still looking for the man's partner - a young woman - who is believed to still be on the run.

Re: Disneyland Paris: Man arrested after two guns and Koran 'found in suitcase'
"...PARIS — A 28-year-old man carrying two guns, ammunition and a Quran was arrested at a hotel in Disneyland Paris on Thursday afternoon, according to a Disney executive, raising a new round of fear two months after 130 people were killed in acoordinated series of terrorist attacks on the French capital.
The man was arrested at Disney’s Hotel New York, next to the Disney Village retail, dining and entertainment complex that is part of the Disneyland Paris amusement park. The theme park, Europe’s largest, opened in 1992 in Marne-la-Vallée, about 20 miles east of central Paris.
“During a routine security screening checkpoint at one of our hotels, weapons were discovered in a guest’s luggage through our X-ray machine,” said François Banon, the vice president of communication and public affairs at Disneyland Paris. “The police were immediately notified and the individual was arrested.”
He did not resist his detention, and he was turned over to the local police, according to reports in the French news media. The man was carrying two semiautomatic 7.65-millimeter pistols and a box of cartridges.
“I’d like to highlight that the security services of Disney and the police forces immediately reacted,” Jean-Luc Marx, the top police official in Seine-et-Marne, told Le Parisien, “so that this individual was put somewhere where he could do no harm — if that was indeed his intention, we don’t know yet.”
A security perimeter was established around the man’s vehicle, and a woman who had accompanied him — and who appeared to have tried to flee — was also taken into custody, Agence France-Presse reported, citing unidentified police sources...."

Bilal Abdulla was the passenger in a burning Jeep driven into Glasgow airport on June 30 last year in an attempted suicide attack.
The driver of the Jeep, Kafeel Ahmed, a PhD student from India, died a month later from the burns he suffered in the attack.(in agony i am guessing)
The pair had earlier tried to blow up two Mercedes cars packed with gas canisters and petrol cans that they had left outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub in London's West End.
The car's driver was severely burnt in the ensuing fire and five members of the public were also injured, although none were seriously harmed. Some injuries were sustained by those assisting the police in detaining the occupant

So, yes?
Let's face it, the thing that perked their ears up was the Quran more than the guns.
Thousands of stupid Americans are arrested every year trying to put guns in their luggage at the airport because they didn't know it's illegal.
Wonder if any of them packed bibles in the same suitcase?
If so, they should of course be considered religious extremists who were intent on killing ...

I didn't see an answer on that link. It has 292 footnotes of minutiae, but no discussion of the law.
I'm curious because each nation has got to have it's own laws, but we always assume they are the same. Is Belgium the same as Sweden the same as France, etc.?
Like you, Ben, my suspicion is that if it had just been guns they would have told him no admittance, come back when you lose the weapons. But with the Quran next to the guns, all of a sudden it's a Federal case.

Re: Disneyland Paris: Man arrested after two guns and Koran 'found in suitcase'
also given that disneyland is UNLIKELY to have gun safes in the hotels
and
that not is not mentioned that he had a gun safe in the vehicle
and that certain types of HAND GUN are restricted over there
he's likely broken the law in any case

Do you have anything that discusses what the laws in France are?

read the link you gave...
and some of the annotations
also the french laws are not THAT far removed from the uk ones in general, though they DO permit the owning of "some" hand guns

The link wasn't mine, it was didge's. I did read it over, but it has no discussion. Just some nearly 292 footnotes.

mmmm...you will likely find that french firearms law is a mess, same as most of europes, having "evolved" rather than "grown"
bits added here and there and odd bits removed
our own uk laws are horrendous to wrap your head round....
