Woman discovers part of an elderly man's face on car wash floor
Body part belonged to 81-year-old victim of hit-and-run.
A woman was shocked to discover part of an elderly man's face while taking her car through a car wah.
Veterinarian Kimberley Kreige found the face fragment while visiting Super Car Wash, in Livingston, Montana.
The remains belonged to Elgie Bedford, aged 81, who had been killed hours earlier in a hit-and-run accident on a rural road a few miles away while on his way to see grandchildren. Mr Bedford had been run over by truck driver David Welk, who fled the scene immediately after the accident.

An interesting story.
Kimberley Kreige is now suing David Welk's former employer for "medical expenses, lost income, negligence and emotional distress".
I'm not sure how his employers could possibly have foreseen that Welk would run someone over, drive off, and then another person would come along, drive over the body, pick up part of the face, go to a carwash, and deposit the face part on the ground, which traumatised Kimberley Kreige later on when she saw it.
It's also a bit odd that Welks got a suspended sentence. I would have thought that he'd get jail time.

She will surely lose. They can't be responsible for "neglect" or "emotional distress" can they?

What about the man's family and friends? They had to read about how several people ran over his body and then said they thought it was just some old clothes or something? What about other people who see accident victims or murder victims?
People do see things which are upsetting, but to blame some random people for that is absurd. She did the right thing at the time and informed the police. She needs to pull herself together.

Agreed, but:
Or this is more about a cultural problem in the US, called exploiting a tragic event to make money from, of which has been born from blood sucking lawyers.

Hmmm, we do read a lot of stories emanating from the US about how some people sue at the drop at the hat, and it's becoming more common in the UK as well.

It will depend upon whether the victim was black or not, as to whether he cares.
